{"id":627467,"date":"2025-12-12T02:33:39","date_gmt":"2025-12-12T02:33:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/627467\/"},"modified":"2025-12-12T02:33:39","modified_gmt":"2025-12-12T02:33:39","slug":"king-charles-to-release-video-as-part-of-stand-up-to-cancer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/627467\/","title":{"rendered":"King Charles to release video as part of Stand Up To Cancer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">The King will release a special video message on Friday night in which he will \u201creflect on his own recovery journey\u201d from cancer and \u201cstress the importance\u201d of screening programmes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">Charles, who was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer in 2023, has recorded a message as part of Stand Up To Cancer 2025, a joint campaign by Cancer Research UK and Channel 4.<\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">The King\u2019s message will be broadcast on the channel at 8pm as part of a series of programmes to raise awareness of cancer research and encourage people to attend screening programmes.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"King Charles III and Queen Camilla visiting Lesley Woodbridge and her husband Roger Woodbridge at University College Hospital Macmillan Cancer Centre.\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/\/dfc8b09b-821c-4490-87bc-be19c66e144f.jpg\" class=\"responsive-sc-1nnon4d-0 bAbKns\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Charles with a patient undergoing chemotherapy at University College Hospital Macmillan Cancer Centre in London<\/p>\n<p>SUZANNE PLUNKETT\/PA<\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">A palace spokesman said the King\u2019s message comes at the end of a week-long campaign which \u201caims to drive awareness of the importance of early diagnosis, raises funding for cancer research and supports all those affected by the illness\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">Viewers on Channel 4 will also see a live broadcast from a cancer clinic at Addenbrooke\u2019s Hospital in Cambridge, hosted by Davina McCall, the television presenter who last month revealed that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.com\/uk\/healthcare\/article\/davina-mccall-breast-cancer-tumour-6z7rff0gk\" class=\"link__RespLink-sc-1ocvixa-0 csWvlP\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">she had undergone surgery for breast cancer<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">The annual Stand Up To Cancer campaign has launched an online screening checker (screeningchecker.co.uk) which helps users determine which breast, bowel and cervical screening programmes they may be eligible for, provides information from Cancer Research UK and directs users to further support.<\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">Since his own diagnosis, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.com\/topic\/king-charles-iii\" class=\"link__RespLink-sc-1ocvixa-0 csWvlP\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the King<\/a> has met fellow cancer patients and shared advice.<\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">In March, during a visit to Northern Ireland, the King said: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.com\/uk\/royal-family\/article\/king-charles-advice-cancer-patients-grbt0nd0k\" class=\"link__RespLink-sc-1ocvixa-0 csWvlP\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201cWhat\u2019s that Winston Churchill saying? Keep buggering on.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p id=\"last-paragraph\" class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">His comments came as he visited a cancer research laboratory at Ulster University in Coleraine.
