Mohamed Salah shared an update from the gym on Instagram on Thursday night. It remains unclear whether the forward will return to Liverpool’s matchday squad to face Brighton on Saturday, in what could prove to be the 33-year-old’s last-ever appearance for the club.<\/p>\n

Salah<\/a> was left out of midweek Champions League<\/a> duties by Arne Slot following incendiary comments<\/a> made in the aftermath of the Reds’ draw at Leeds United last weekend. The player had been dropped to the bench for that fixture, and the two prior Premier League<\/a> outings.<\/p>\n

As a result, the Egyptian’s future at Anfield<\/a> is in fresh doubt. In any case, it appears to be business as usual for Salah.<\/p>\n

On Thursday night the 250-goal attacker posted a story to Instagram<\/a> – a mirror selfie from his home gym, still sticking to his strict fitness regime despite everything that has unfolded.<\/p>\n

If able to patch things up with Slot and the club, Salah could return to the squad for this weekend’s match hosting Brighton in front of supporters at Anfield.<\/p>\n

Head coach Slot is set to address reporters from Liverpool<\/a>‘s AXA Training Centre at 9am on Friday morning, with answers expected on that front.<\/p>\n

However, the Egyptian would be quickly out of action again for the Reds as following Premier League duties this weekend he will head off to represent his country at this winter’s Africa Cup of Nations.<\/p>\n

As Salah’s future remains in doubt for now, he is once again linked with an imminent transfer to the lucrative Saudi Pro League, where chiefs have already been discussing a potential deal<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“Mohamed Salah<\/a> is welcome in the Saudi League, but it is the clubs that are responsible for negotiating with players,” Saudi Pro League chief executive <\/strong>Omar Mugharbel confirmed this week, adding: “For sure Salah is one of them [a target].”<\/p>\n

A Public Investment Fund source also told the AFP news agency: “We follow Salah\u2019s position thoroughly and believe there can be a move either on loan or through a permanent transfer.<\/p>\n

“There are no direct negotiations with the club yet, but action will be taken at the right moment.”<\/p>\n

The PIF owns a stake in Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr, Al-Ahli and Al-Ittihad of the Saudi Pro League, while Al-Qadsiah – who have ties to state-owned energy giant Aramco – have also been named as a possible next club for Salah.<\/p>\n
