Hazmat teams and fire crews raced to a Glasgow<\/a> street on Friday after reports emerged of a lithium battery ‘overheating’.<\/p>\n Emergency services were scrambled to a home on Summertown Road, Govan, at approximately 10.50am on Friday, December 12, following the alert. Two fire<\/a> engines along with specialist equipment were deployed to the location.<\/p>\n The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service<\/a> confirmed that crews successfully removed the battery from the building and cooled it down. No injuries were reported and firefighters have now departed the area.<\/p>\n Lithium-ion batteries, commonly found in everyday devices including e-bikes, e-scooters, mobile phones, laptops and vapes, can trigger devastating blazes. These infernos have the potential to completely destroy homes.<\/p>\n A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 10.50am on Friday, 12 December, to reports of a lithium battery that had overheated within a property on Summertown Road in Glasgow<\/a>. Operations Control mobilised two fire appliances and a specialist resource to the scene as a precaution.”, reports Glasgow Live<\/a>.<\/p>\n “There were no casualties, and the battery was removed from the property and cooled.
