Ruben Loftus-Cheek is considering leaving AC Milan in the January transfer window<\/a> after struggling for regular game time. Like many players, Loftus-Cheek<\/a> has one eye on next year\u2019s World Cup<\/a> and is reportedly weighing up his options as the window approaches.<\/p>\n The 29-year-old midfielder left Chelsea<\/a> for Milan in 2023 and has generally benefited from the move to Italy. But he has slipped down the pecking order under manager Max Allegri in recent weeks.<\/p>\n Milan signed Luka Modric, Adrien Rabiot and Samuele Ricci in the summer to increase the competition for places and Loftus-Cheek has suffered. Eight of his 12 Serie A appearances this season have come from the substitutes\u2019 bench, with just one start in the last 11 games.<\/p>\n Loftus-Cheek\u2019s minutes have also been hampered by Milan\u2019s absence from European competitions this season and their exit from the Coppa Italia. His Milan contract runs until June 2027, but a move to one of their rivals is on the cards.<\/p>\n Napoli are currently without Kevin De Bruyne, Stanislav Lobotka, Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa and Billy Gilmour, leaving Antonio Conte<\/a> short of options in the middle of the park. Conte knows Loftus-Cheek from their time together at Chelsea and could push for a reunion in the New Year<\/a>.<\/p>\n Loftus-Cheek\u2019s desire for a move has been sparked by his desire to play for England in Canada, the United States and Mexico in the summer. The midfielder was a favourite of Tuchel during his 20-month spell in charge of the Blues between 2021 and 2022, but he knows that he can\u2019t rely on past relationships.<\/p>\n Tuchel has made it very clear that he won\u2019t pick his squad on reputation, having left out big-name players in the past based on form. Jude Bellingham<\/a>, Phil Foden<\/a> and Trent Alexander-Arnold<\/a> are among those to have missed out on selection during World Cup qualifying and competition for places in midfield is fierce.<\/p>\n Loftus-Cheek has 11 caps for England since his debut in 2017 and was included in the squads for September and October. However, he didn\u2019t make the cut for November\u2019s games against Serbia and Albania and is behind Bellingham, Declan Rice<\/a>, Elliot Anderson, Adam Wharton and Jordan Henderson<\/a> in the pecking order.<\/p>\n Speaking last month, while explaining why Arsenal<\/a> left-back Myles Lewis-Skelly had missed out on selection to Manchester City<\/a> \u2019s Nico O\u2019Reilly, Tuchel said: \u201cMyles was a very good team-mate and played for us in the last camp in the World Cup qualifier in Riga, so was Ruben Loftus-Cheek, so was Morgan Gibbs-White<\/a> and James Trafford.<\/p>\n \u201cBut I said last time there is a component to it that it’s about competition and performance and the door is always open for guys who perform on a regular and high level. Myles, Ruben and Morgan got out-performed by Nico O’Reilly, Alex Scott, Nick Pope<\/a> and Jude in their positions.
