WestVerkehr GmbH, headquartered in Germany\u2019s westernmost district on the Dutch border, officially commissioned the fleet this week with a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Managing Director Udo Winkens.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EY0Xg W2aKK PuKmT YjabP\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-h5sme86\"><strong style=\"font-weight:700\">Jean-Marc Gales, Chief Executive Officer of Wrightbus<\/strong>, welcomed the milestone as a sign of strengthening ties between the company and its European partners.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EY0Xg W2aKK PuKmT YjabP\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-sqlrm89\">\u201cWe are delighted that WestVerkehr is bringing our zero-emission hydrogen buses onto the roads of North Rhine-Westphalia. This benefits the environment and ensures that people in the region breathe better air,\u201d said Mr Gales. <\/p>\n<p class=\"EY0Xg W2aKK PuKmT YjabP\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-oo643339\">\u201cWhat means just as much to us is the excellent partnership and cooperation with WestVerkehr. Together with the partners of the H2HS consortium, we are actively driving forward the transformation of local public transport \u2013 innovative, emission-free and close to the people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"EY0Xg W2aKK PuKmT YjabP\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-0wqvt98\"><strong style=\"font-weight:700\">District Administrator Stephan Pusch <\/strong>echoed the sentiment, stressing the importance of action over rhetoric in the energy transition. <\/p>\n<p class=\"EY0Xg W2aKK PuKmT YjabP\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-3c7br516\">\u201cThe whole world is talking about the energy transition. But we don\u2019t talk about it, we do it. Hydrogen-powered public transport is an important building block in our efforts to act as a globally sustainable municipality.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"EY0Xg W2aKK PuKmT YjabP\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-zz94d101\">Germany\u2019s Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport Affairs has supported WestVerkehr\u2019s hydrogen fleet initiative with \u20ac3.4 million in funding. <strong style=\"font-weight:700\">State Secretary Hartmut H\u00f6ppner<\/strong> praised the environmental and societal benefits of the investment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EY0Xg W2aKK PuKmT YjabP\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-kw2gv104\">\u201cThe purchase of hydrogen buses offers real added value: they are quieter, more environmentally and climate-friendly and thus contribute to a higher quality of life and environment for people in our cities and villages,\u201d he said. \u201cAs BMDV, we are happy to support WestVerkehr GmbH\u2019s initiative to switch to alternative drive systems. This is good news for the citizens of the region as well as for climate and environmental protection.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"EY0Xg W2aKK PuKmT YjabP\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-vporu107\">Wrightbus first entered the European market in 2024 and has quickly gained traction across the continent. There are now 31 Kite Hydroliners in operation with Regionalverkehr K\u00f6ln GmbH (RVK), with a further eight due by the end of 2025. Additional deliveries are planned for Saarbahn GmbH (28 buses), Cottbusverkehr GmbH and Spree-Nei\u00dfe-Cottbusverkehr GmbH (46 buses), and Vestische Stra\u00dfenbahnen GmbH (5 buses).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/7986bd_0702bfc9b3a84ec6b4eda4808e08ad7c~mv2.jpg\" alt=\"\" style=\"width:100%;height:100%;object-fit:cover;object-position:50% 50%;max-width:100%\" data-pin-url=\"https:\/\/www.loveballymena.online\/post\/wrightbus-expands-european-footprint-with-hydrogen-bus-delivery-to-germany\" data-pin-media=\"https:\/\/static.wixstatic.com\/media\/7986bd_0702bfc9b3a84ec6b4eda4808e08ad7c~mv2.jpg\/v1\/fill\/w_2000,h_1333,al_c,q_90\/7986bd_0702bfc9b3a84ec6b4eda4808e08ad7c~mv2.jpg\" draggable=\"false\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"EY0Xg W2aKK PuKmT YjabP\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-cnx3o110\">To support its growing European customer base, Wrightbus has established a new service centre in Br\u00fchl, near Cologne. <\/p>\n<p class=\"EY0Xg W2aKK PuKmT YjabP\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-reoyo667\">Operating under the AllServiceOne brand, the facility offers maintenance and servicing for a wide range of bus models, including those from other manufacturers and with varying drive types. The site also features a dedicated spare parts warehouse and marks the first stage in developing a comprehensive service network across the continent, mirroring the company\u2019s UK infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EY0Xg W2aKK PuKmT YjabP\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-ulvhy113\">The Kite Hydroliner FCEV is designed for long-distance service, boasting a range of up to 1,000 kilometres and a refuelling time of under 10 minutes.
