In a world that was once inhabited by an infinite loop of romantic-comedy trailers set to \u201cSolsbury Hill,\u201d Peter Gabriel is thrilled that paddles have been drawn for one of his lesser-known songs. Marty Supreme, the upcoming ping-pong epic<\/a> starring Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet and a guy from Shark Tank<\/a>, uses \u201cI Have the Touch\u201d as a pivotal needle drop somewhere in the movie. On his website, Gabriel relayed gratitude to director Josh Safdie for choosing \u201cI Have the Touch\u201d \u2014 from his 1982 eponymous album and, of course<\/a>, featuring Tony Levin on bass \u2014 because he says it\u2019s not often caressed by the masses. \u201cThe song is rarely asked out for a dance, and I have always loved table tennis,\u201d he wrote<\/a>. \u201cNow there seems to be a real buzz about the film. Although I have it in my Academy pack we are waiting to see it on the big screen in the Christmas holiday. On tour we always have a table backstage for any of the crew or band to jump on.\u201d<\/p>\n Gabriel also inadvertently broke the news that two other synth-heavy songs from the 1980s will be setting the scene in Marty Supreme: \ufeffthe Korgis\u2019 \u201cEverybody\u2019s Got to Learn Sometime\u201d and\u00a0Tears for Fears\u2019 \u201cEverybody Wants to Rule the World.\u201d Add \u201cI Have the Touch\u201d to the mix and the trifecta share a strange connection in geography. \u201cThe other curious fact,\u201d Gabriel added, \u201cis that three of the songs chosen for the soundtrack were written and recorded around the city of Bath.\u201d He added, to be sure, \u201ccheck it out.\u201d We will.
