Previously residing in St Ives, the family-run restaurant in Cornwall has made a comeback in the foodie hotspot .

Deciding to visit last-minute after a difficult week, we turned up with my friend for lunch on a Saturday lunchtime without a reservation. Luckily, this turned out not to be a problem and we were the first ones to arrive, but the restaurant slowly filled up as we enjoyed our meal.

One Fish Street has a simple, modern decor which helped me to relax in a restaurant with above-average prices (it is a fish restaurant after all). We decided to start our meal with the sourdough and marmite butter; can’t go wrong with such a combination in my eyes, and I was not disappointed.

One Fish Sreet on Chandos Road

We also ordered a couple of cuttlefish ragu arancini, served with mushroom ketchup. While these were truly delicious – the batter so crispy, the filling so creamy, the ketchup so moreish – I have to admit I couldn’t taste the cuttlefish.

A big fan of anchovies, we also got a plate of these to share, together with a tin of trout fillet in onion relish. While my friend was not a fan of the trout, which came with toast, salted butter and pickles, I enjoyed this dish.

The oily sauce was particularly delicious and it reminded me of the mussels “ en escabetx” we eat in Barcelona ; mussels marinated in olive oil, vinegar, wine, garlic, paprika and pepper, among others. So yummy.

We also ordered the cheese selection, which was served with torta biscuits, pickled walnut ketchup and figs. Consisting of Comte, Elrick Log, Riseley and Gorgonzola, I loved all four cheeses and felt this dish complemented well the fish ones we had had so far.

Sourdough with marmite butter, anchovies

Also featured prominently in the menu were the oysters, which are served both raw, grilled, tempura or panko breaded. There is also the option to get a mixed platter. However, oysters is something I have to be in the mood for and that Saturday was not a day I was in the mood for them sadly.

One Fish Street also had a few plates on the menu, including hand dived scallops with brown shrimp butter, mussels, or John Dory. While we were feeling quite full by this point, if I was to come back to the restaurant, I would totally order the scallops as I had big envy when I saw they arrive at the table by us.

Pistacchio pannacotta with ginger cake(Image: BristolLive)

I am of the opinion there is always room for dessert, and when eating at this new Chandos Road restaurant that is the right opinion to have. While there was only one option for dessert, this was an excellent one; a pistacchio panna cotta with ginger cake. This was a delicious dessert and even my friend who doesn’t have much of a sweet tooth kept coming back for more.

At One Fish Street, they certainly know their food and, when you visit, you are in for a treat. Another great addition to Chandos Road – maybe just save a bit of money before you visit, but isn’t that the case in most restaurants these days it feels?

One Fish Street, 17 Chandos Road, BS6 6PG

Maybe just save a bit of money before you visitTin of trout fillet in onion relish Chandos Road…

[8818
381,748,9418,393,4884,20077,16,15
0":"post-630119","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-bristol","8":"tag-bristol","9":"tag-britain","10":"tag-eating-out-in-bristol","11":"tag-england","12":"tag-great-britain","13":"tag-redland","14":"tag-uk","15":"tag-united-kingdom
["GET
