{"id":630343,"date":"2025-12-13T15:14:12","date_gmt":"2025-12-13T15:14:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/630343\/"},"modified":"2025-12-13T15:14:12","modified_gmt":"2025-12-13T15:14:12","slug":"rain-hit-alfred-dunhill-reduced-to-54-holes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/630343\/","title":{"rendered":"Rain-hit Alfred Dunhill reduced to 54 holes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Alfred Dunhill Championship will be played over 54 holes after barely two hours&#8217; play was possible on Saturday due to thunderstorms and flooding in Johannesburg.<\/p>\n<p>The leading groups had yet to begin their third round when, after repeated stoppages, play was abandoned for the day at 2.30pm local time.<\/p>\n<p>Tournament director David Williams said: &#8220;It\u2019s tough when you have to do this but we suspended twice this morning and the course became unplayable very quickly.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Because it\u2019s been raining throughout the day and there is more on its way, we\u2019ve taken the decision to suspend the third round.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We\u2019re going to restart tomorrow at 6.30am. There\u2019s still about five or six games to tee off, but the third round will be the final round.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Spain\u2019s Eugenio Chacarra \u2013 at 15 under par \u2013 remains two strokes clear of nearest challenger Jayden Schaper.
