Sheffield United are in pole position to land Joe Rothwell<\/a> in January.<\/p>\n The English Championship side is pushing to land the Rangers<\/a> midfielder and other key targets to get up the table and back into the promotion picture. United are confident of getting a deal done when the window opens to bring the 30-year-old to Bramall Lane.<\/p>\n Rothwell has a wealth of experience in the Championship, where he won the title with Leeds United and helped Southampton with the play-off. He moved north from Bournemouth in the summer to work under Russell Martin<\/a>.<\/p>\n Martin only lasted a few months before he exited. New boss Danny Rohl<\/a> has come in and left Rothwell on the fringes.<\/p>\n He is looking to strengthen his squad in January and Rothwell would free up a substantial chunk.
