The Manchester United loanee pulled off a string of smart stops to deny Ephron Mason-Clarke, Haji Wright, and others, whilst commanding his penalty area well. Vitek could do very little about Ephron Mason-Clark’s goal, and even if he had reacted quicker, his first-half showing left him with credit in the bank.

READ MORE: Coventry City vs Bristol City live: Struber makes three changes with Vyner and Tanner missingREAD MORE: Charlotte Healy targeting FA Cup progression after positive Bristol City Women takeover updateNeto Borges – 6

Deployed in a rather unusual position on the right side of the Bristol City back three, Neto Borges had a shaky first few minutes against Coventry City, but settled into the first half well from that point on. While you could tell the Brazilian wasn’t a natural on the right flank, he did a reasonable job considering the circumstances.

Rob Dickie – 6.5

The last centre-back standing, well natural centre-back at least, outside of a couple of occasions in which he fell victim to Coventry City’s pace on the break, Rob Dickie was solid enough to deal with most of what the Sky Blues threw his way. Like a lot in red and white, it felt as if he rode his luck at times, but it didn’t feel as if he deserved to lose that game.

Cam Pring (off for Yu Hirakawa, 85’) – 6

Away from a loose touch that gave up a chance and a sliced clearance that put Radek Vitek under pressure in the opening 45 minutes, Cam Pring did what was needed of him from the left centre-back position well. His pace in recovery got the Robins out of a sticky spot or two, whilst he wasn’t afraid to get forward when City were chasing a leveller. It was also great to see him up his minutes as he continues to recover.

Mark Sykes (off for Haydon Roberts, 46’) – 6

Before he was withdrawn at the break, Mark Sykes did what was needed of him as the Robins’ right wing-back. Wherever he could, the 28-year-old worked back to help Neto Borges out of possession and popped up with an important intervention or two himself. He wasn’t able to do an awful lot going forward, but didn’t get much wrong in possession. Hopefully, it was a tactical call to withdraw him rather than a result of injury.

Sign up for our City newsletter

Bristol City looking to build on last season’s play-off finish under Gerhard Struber and you won’t miss a beat with our free newsletter.

All the latest news, views, interviews, gossip and analysis concerning the Robins, delivered straight to your inbox.

It’s completely free and you can sign up HERE

Adam Randell – 7

Bristol City’s mainstay in midfield will likely be travelling home wondering how his header early in the second half didn’t open the scoring, as it took an excellent Carl Rushworth save to turn his smart effort over the bar. As City looked to find a late leveller, it was the former Plymouth Argyle man who drove them forward, and he was more than deserving of an assist when he cut back to Fally Mayulu deep in stoppage time. He battled away and didn’t deserve to be on the losing side.

Jason Knight – 6

The Bristol City captain was the unlucky man who couldn’t quite get his foot to the bouncing ball, which Ephron Mason-Clark turned home. It would be unfair to lay too much blame at Jason Knight’s door for that goal, and elsewhere, he did what he always does in the middle of the park. Saturday also marked his first 90 minutes since his return from injury, which is a good step in the right direction.

Ross McCrorie – 5.5

As Bristol City’s left wing-back against the Sky Blues, Ross McCrorie was a busy man, both in an attacking and defensive sense. A lot of what the Robins did well going forward came down his flank, with his late first-half cross onto the head of Emil Riis worthy of an assist. Could he have done more in the lead-up to the Sky Blues’ winner? It did look like he got caught slightly under the ball as he came out second best when trying to meet Haydon Roberts’ high clearance. Did concede one or two soft fouls, but that was always likely against Coventry’s attacking talent.

Anis Mehmeti (off for Scott Twine, 75’) – 6

Against Coventry City on Saturday afternoon, Anis Mehmeti was utilised as Bristol City’s only attacking midfielder and popped up in some good positions in the first half. Didn’t quite have the same influence on proceedings after the restart as he has done for so much of the campaign so far, and picked up a needless booking before he was withdrawn. By no means poor, but not one of his best of the season.

Emil Riis (off for Fally Mayulu, 85’) – 5.5

The Danish forward popped up in some good attacking positions on Saturday afternoon, but he was unable to take what proved to be the Robins’ best chance. His diving header after being picked out by Haydon Roberts left a lot to be desired, as he was unable to even test Carl Rushworth. It felt a bit like the result hinged on that moment, and he will feel he should have done better. On a more positive note, he seems to have a knack for getting the best out of Sinclair Armstrong and had a couple of good moments.

Bristol City Live on Whatsapp

Join Bristol City Live’s Whatsapp community for all the biggest Bristol City stories sent straight to your phone

Bristol City Live is now on WhatsApp and we want you to join our community.

Through the app, we’ll send the Bristol City news, live match coverage, team news, transfers, fixtures, analysis and more straight to your phone.

To join our community you need to already have WhatsApp. All you need to do is click this link and select ‘Join Community’.

No one will be able to see who is signed up and no one can send messages except the Bristol Live team.

We also treat community members to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. He may have perhaps been unfortunate to see what he thought was the opener ruled out, while he came close with two right-footed shots on either side of that effort. The Ireland international didn’t stop running in the second half and caused the Sky Blues’ defence plenty of problems. Even without a goal, it was one of his best showings this term.

Substitutes:Haydon Roberts – 6

Perhaps could have cleared further up the pitch in the lead-up to the winning goal. It would have been a good value for an assist, considering the problems his delivery from the left flank caused.

Scott Twine – 6

Came close with a free-kick but didn’t quite make the difference Gerhard Struber will have hoped for.

Yu Hirakawa – 6

He was very bright on the right flank.

Fally Mayulu – 6

He couldn’t have done more to find the winner.

READ MORE: Mark Sykes knocks on door for new Bristol City deal as Gerhard Struber makes ‘very sexy’ claimREAD MORE: Sinclair Armstrong makes exciting Bristol City declaration as striker sets out World Cup ‘dream’

Bristol Live’s Bristol City player ratings after the Robins stretched their winless run in the Championship to three…

[8818
381,2686,748,393,14590,4884,16,15
0":"post-630533","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-bristol","8":"tag-bristol","9":"tag-bristol-city-fc","10":"tag-britain","11":"tag-england","12":"tag-football-league-championship","13":"tag-great-britain","14":"tag-uk","15":"tag-united-kingdom
["GET
