{"id":63089,"date":"2025-04-30T14:05:10","date_gmt":"2025-04-30T14:05:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/63089\/"},"modified":"2025-04-30T14:05:10","modified_gmt":"2025-04-30T14:05:10","slug":"1500-meals-for-greater-manchesters-homeless-in-one-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/63089\/","title":{"rendered":"1,500+ meals for Greater Manchester\u2019s homeless in one day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>CHOP CHOP: Volunteers preparing the meals to be served at Carnival COOK-Up <\/p>\n<p>Later this month Cracking Good Food will bring together volunteers from socially minded organisations across the region to cook 1,500 nutritious meals for people experiencing homelessness. <\/p>\n<p>The initiative, called Carnival COOK-Up, will take place at Freight Island, one of Manchester\u2019s most vibrant venues, and will directly support 13 frontline homelessness organisations across all 10 boroughs of Greater Manchester.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to an incredible partnership with Fareshare Greater Manchester, the meals will be made from surplus food that would otherwise have gone to waste. <\/p>\n<p>In total, the event will rescue half a tonne of perfectly good ingredients, highlighting the staggering levels of edible food waste in the UK.<\/p>\n<p>Tracey Torley, CEO Cracking Good Food, said: \u201cHomelessness affects more than 7,000 people across Greater Manchester, and access to nutritious, home-cooked meals is a real challenge.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy combining rescued food with the power of community action, we\u2019re showing what\u2019s possible in just one day.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/uk.trustpilot.com\/review\/www.inyourarea.co.uk?sort=recency\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/trustpilot-web2.png\" alt=\"TRUSTPILOT WEB2\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>But this isn\u2019t just about meals, it\u2019s about meaningful connection. The Carnival COOK-Up offers companies a purposeful alternative to traditional teambuilding, allowing staff to work together, network with like-minded businesses, and see the tangible impact of their efforts, all in just a few hours away from their desks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSmall contributions can make a big difference, and the positive impact resonates far beyond the event itself,\u201d said John Walmsley, Social Impact Executive at The Casey Group, one of the first organisations to sign up to the Carnival COOK-Up following a successful teambuilding day at Cracking Good Food\u2019s Festive COOK-Up. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur team described the experience as deeply rewarding and eye-opening.
