German authorities detained five men suspected of planning
\nan attack on a Christmas market in southern Germany, the Munich public
\nprosecutor\u2019s office said on Sunday.<\/p>\n
According to a statement, the disrupted plot focused on a
\nChristmas market in the Dingolfing area of Bavaria, though officials withheld
\nthe name of the specific location.<\/p>\n
Investigators determined that the plans stemmed from what
\nauthorities described as \u201ca terrorist motive\u201d and involved an assault carried
\nout using a vehicle.<\/p>\n
Those in custody include a 56-year-old Egyptian national, a
\n37-year-old Syrian national, and three Moroccan nationals aged 22, 28, and 30.<\/p>\n
The arrests occur as Germany steps up security measures
\naround Christmas markets nationwide amid concerns over potential attacks.
