‘Ireland’s most honest food reviewer’ travelled all the way to Scotland to visit the famous Anstruther Fish Bar in Fife and he was left ‘almost speechless’ by the food<\/p>\n

A Dubliner travelled all the way to Scotland to try what a top critic recently called the \u201cbest chippy in Scotland\u201d<\/a> \u2013 and he said the food<\/a> tasted completely different to what you get in Irish takeaways.<\/p>\n

Social media personality Paul_IsItWorthIt, who calls himself \u201cIreland\u2019s most honest food reviewer\u201d, visited Anstruther Fish Bar in Fife, and the experience left him \u201calmost speechless\u201d.<\/p>\n

His expectations were high, not least because a sign above the door proudly stated it was a \u201cUK Fish & Chip Shop of the year winner\u201d. And if that wasn\u2019t enough, a sign on the window had the words: \u201cAwarded Takeaway of the year fish and chips Scotland 2019-2020.\u201d<\/p>\n

And starting his YouTube<\/a> video, Paul said: \u201cThis is your bucket list if you are a fish and chips connoisseur, this is a bucket list destination.\u201d<\/p>\n

His total bill came to \u00a322 after he ordered haddock batter and chips, homemade curry sauce, mushy peas, whitebait and an Irn Bru.<\/p>\n

And opening up his food package, he said: \u201cOh my God, does that not look unbelievable? And the chips, the chips look like they have some serious character to them, don\u2019t they?\u201d<\/p>\n

Biting into a golden chip, he continued: \u201cNow I have tried some chips in my time, I have tried hundreds of chips, I think that\u2019s the best chip I\u2019ve ever tasted.\u201d<\/p>\n

He then explained how they tasted different to chips back home, and added: \u201cIf I am wrong I am wrong, but I think they are cooked in beef dripping, I would be flabbergasted if they are not.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for his haddock, he said it looked and tasted fantastic and dipping it in tartar sauce, he added: \u201cI\u2019m almost speechless here. It doesn\u2019t get much better.\u201d<\/p>\n

Giving the curry sauce a go, he said it was \u201cso different\u201d to Irish curry sauce, and despite being \u201creally nice\u201d, it wasn\u2019t his favourite.<\/p>\n

But tucking into the mushy peas, he spotted another contrast, and said: \u201cI dunno, they do something different with the mushy peas in the UK, they are much better over here.\u201d<\/p>\n

He then chatted to passerby locals who confirmed Anstruther Fish Bar was the \u201cbest around\u201d and summing up his meal, Paul said: \u201cJust spectacular, the locals are the ones who will tell you. This is unbelievable fish and chips man, I just want to keep eating it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Paul also said it was a \u201clovely little town\u201d and that it was worth the two hours drive it took to get there from Glasgow.<\/p>\n

Subscribers to Paul\u2019s channel will know that he is not one to dish out extremely high scores, and he took a minute to deliberate before rating his experience out of ten.<\/p>\n

Finally ready, he said: \u201cThe fish is unbelievably fresh, the batter is exactly how I like it, almost translucent, you can see the little flaky bits here.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it is exceptional, I am going to go, what have I had that\u2019s better than this? Oh my god\u2026 9.7 out of ten for Anstruther.\u201d<\/p>\n

After posting the video, which you can watch in full here<\/a>, one person replied: \u201cThat Anstruther Fish Bar is a real treat and going in November is a good move, as in the summer, you can sometimes be queuing down the street.\u201d<\/p>\n
