Let\u2019s do the Time Warp again; genre-defying cult sensation The Rocky Horror Picture Show<\/strong> is turning 50 this year. To celebrate, a newly restored and remastered version is heading to 4K Ultra HD with a new anniversary logo.<\/p>\n

The Rocky Horror Picture Show was first released in 1975 and became one of the longest-running theatrical release of all time thanks to its interactive late night screenings.<\/p>\n

In the film, \u201cFasten your garter belt and relive the time-warping, gender-bending cult classic! When a newly engaged couple\u2019s (Barry Bostwick<\/strong> and Susan Sarandon<\/strong>) car breaks down on a rainy night, they wind up in the creepy castle of Dr. Frank-N-Furter (Tim Curry<\/strong><\/a>). There, they have an adventure that will thrill you, chill you, and fulfill you like never before!\u201d<\/p>\n

The cult musical was created\/written by Richard O\u2019Brien<\/strong> and directed by Jim Sharman<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The 10-month restoration project, overseen by the Walt Disney Studios Restoration team, included a meticulous digital scan and preservation process. The restoration also features a newly mixed Dolby Atmos audio track, bringing enhanced depth and dimension to the film\u2019s iconic soundtrack. For the purists hoping to experience the film as it was initially screened in 1975, you\u2019re in luck. \u00a0The original mono audio has been fully restored as well.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen The Rocky Horror Picture Show was first released, no one thought it would be around very long, let alone\u202650 years,\u201c\u00a0says producer Lou Adler. \u201cWhat began as a small, rebellious project has become a global celebration of individuality, community, and creative freedom. This anniversary is a tribute to the fans who kept it alive and kicking all these years.\u201d<\/p>\n

Like Jaws<\/a>, The Rocky Horror Picture Show is going big for its 50th anniversary. There\u2019s no dates announced yet, but expect theatrical screenings and the 4K Ultra HD remaster to arrive later this year. Stay tuned.<\/p>\n
