have been recommended for approval.<\/p>\n<p>Those behind the proposals for Curzon Street Station, the city centre terminus of the controversial <a href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/all-about\/hs2\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:HS2;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">HS2<\/a> line, previously said the design changes would help to \u201cfuture proof\u201d the station.<\/p>\n<p>They include a change in material from timber to aluminium within the station roof due to recently it would provide a huge economic boost and serve as a symbol of the city\u2019s ambition<\/p>\n<p>But as \u201cserious challenges\u201d continue to plague the HS2 project, the new CEO <a href=\"https:\/\/uk.news.yahoo.com\/hs2-reset-explained-impact-birmingham-131314530.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:recently confirmed that a \u201creset of the programme\u201d will take place;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recently confirmed that a \u201creset of the programme\u201d will take place<\/a> and involve a review of the project\u2019s cost and schedule.<\/p>\n<p>Despite uncertainty over when exactly the first trains will run between <a href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Birmingham;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Birmingham<\/a> and London, progress is being made on the design of Curzon Street Station.<\/p>\n<p>Consent for the station, based on an outline scheme design, was secured in 2020 from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/all-about\/birmingham-city-council\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Birmingham City Council;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Birmingham City Council<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>HS2&#8217;s construction partner Mace Dragados Joint Venture would later reveal proposed design \u201crefinements\u201d last year in September before a planning application was submitted.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"caas-img caas-lazy has-preview\" alt=\"HS2 Curzon Street -Credit:andrewhendry.com<\/p>\n<p>A council officer\u2019s report, published ahead of a planning committee meeting next week, has now recommended the redesign for approval.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am satisfied that the revised design and subsequent external appearance of the proposed station building would still be a world class 21st century landmark building,\u201d it read.<\/p>\n<p>It went on to say that the station would display \u201chigh quality architecture and provide a world class passenger experience\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is considered that the impact on the local amenity, heritage assets and surrounding highways would not be any more significant than what was envisaged in 2020,\u201d the report continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMost importantly, the station would contribute to \u2018let down\u2019 as 40,000 bathroom and kitchen replacements needed<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe HS2 development will help to create more jobs and deliver new homes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It also said a combination of factors were involved within the redesign, including value for money, technical complexities, engineering constraints and changes to standards and regulations.<\/p>\n<p>On the HS2 reset, CEO Mark Wild said recently: \u201cThis is of a scale never done before \u2013 the last mainline terminus we built was 1899 in Marylebone.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTruth is also the construction has been harder than we would have thought so we\u2019ve lost ground in construction.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo a combination of factors of getting a little bit behind and also the complexity to come means we need to people confidence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The HS2 Curzon Street Station plans will be considered by the council\u2019s planning committee on Thursday, May
