\n\tG\u00f6teborg\u2019s 20th edition of its TV Drama Vision<\/a> confab\u00a0looks like it could be one of the powerful ever with some of the biggest Nordic and European drama creators from 13 countries\u00a0set to pitch 15 projects at the Series in Development lineup.<\/p>\n

\n\tHeadlining the slate of eight high-end Nordic shows looking for co-financiers and co-producers is the psycho thriller \u201cA Phone Rings in the Middle of the Night,\u201d created by the team behind the Palme d\u2019Or winner \u201cTriangle of Sadness\u201d and Sundance-Berlin winner \u201cFantastic Machine.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201dThis is the first fiction series for Plattform Produktion<\/a>,\u00a0but we\u2019ve always said that we would venture into TV drama\u00a0if we could find something that could make best use of the episodic narrative format in an organic way,\u201d\u00a0said Ruben \u00d6stlund\u2019s long-time production partner Erik Hemmendorff. who adds: \u201cWe feel\u00a0excited to produce a series in the same way that we produce our feature films.\u201dWhile the thriller\u00a0\u201cA Phone Rings\u2026\u201d is based on true events, other Nordic projects will offer thought-provoking takes on our contemporary world.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn \u201cFantasy Resort\u201d, the team behind the multi-awarded Norwegian show \u201cRequiem for Selina\u201d<\/a> will use a similar universe to question the impact of reality TV on young people; in the drama \u201cScandinavia,\u201d co-writers Geir Henning Hopland (\u201cHeadhunters\u201d), J\u00f6rgen Hjerdt (\u201cBlue Eyes,\u201d \u201cTaelgia\u201d) and Anton Breum (\u201cA S\u00e1mi Wedding\u201d) examine a future in which NATO no longer exists and Denmark, Norway and Sweden have formed a single nation with a common defence, economy and politics to face fascism in Europe.
In the Faroe Islands-set political drama \u201cTinganes,\u201d creator-producer Torfinnur J\u00e1kupsson (\u201cTrom\u201d) focuses on \u201csovereignty in the age of surveillance\u201d and \u201cwhat happens when a small nation becomes the frontline of global power,\u201d while Iceland\u2019s Eagle Egilsson, <\/strong>\u201cThe Wire\u201d cinematographer and a director of the Starz Original \u201cHightown.\u201d will dive into the smallest Nordic nation\u2019s financial crash and its aftermath in \u201cGreed.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAmong the seven high-end European Series in Development, four are presented in collaboration with partner organisations. The Spanish mystery drama \u201cDark Waters\u201d (Federation Spain<\/a>) which won the TV Drama Vision Select Award <\/a>at the recent Tallinn TV Beats Forum, is being showcased by Catalan Films, the Spain-France-Belgium thriller \u201cSmuggled\u201d<\/a> (Mediacrest, Oble, AT-Prod) with Conecta Fiction & Entertainment, the Belgium period thriller-tragicomedy \u201cBelle Epoque\u201d with Flanders Audiovisual Fund (VAF) and Polish dark comedy \u201cWe Are Still Here\u201d with Midpoint Institute.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn a groundbreaking move for TV Drama Vision, the Swedish youth comedy \u201cIn My Hands\u201d will\u00a0mirror the latest\u00a0global\u00a0production\u00a0crave for micro dramas.\u00a0\u201cThis is our very first vertical\/micro series to be selected for pitching. We really like the project, and we aim to highlight this content trend, not only through panels but also through concrete projects,\u201d said TV Drama Vision honcho Cia Edstr\u00f6m.<\/p>\n

\n\tCommenting on her 2026 Series in Development covering a \u201cwide spectrum genre-wise, ranging from historical romance and youth comedy to political drama,\u201d Edstr\u00f6m said \u201cthe submissions we received show that there are many strong creators and producers in Europe today, but also that due to the challenging times in the drama industry, there is a need for more time and support in the development phase.\u201d
More than 800 delegates from 30 countries are expected at this year\u2019s TV Drama Vision, due to unspool under the headline \u201cOne Transformation After Another,\u201d with 50 series and 100 on-stage speakers including heavyweight U.S. producer-screenwriter James Schamus and Germany showrunner Katharina Eyssen (\u201cThe Empress\u201d), as reported earlier<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe G\u00f6teborg Film Festival\u2019s parallel boutique industry event dedicated to drama series will unspool Jan. 27-28 and its film-focused Nordic Film Market over Jan. 28-30.<\/p>\n

When she is arrested, bigger secrets begin to surface, as it appears that the woman had committed several crimes in the past.<\/p>\n
