Rock legend Brian May and his wife Anita Dobson have swapped their \u00a37million Kensington home for the tranquillity of the Surrey countryside. <\/p>\n

The Queen guitarist, 77, and former EastEnders actress, 76, made the move to Windlesham after nearly four decades together.<\/p>\n

The couple, who have been married for 24 years, decided to leave London behind following a basement flood at their Kensington property in July 2021. <\/p>\n

However, Dobson recently revealed that they had been contemplating the change for some time before the unfortunate incident occurred. <\/p>\n

The flood merely accelerated a decision that had already been brewing as the pair considered their future. <\/p>\n

The devastating flood destroyed precious memories for the couple, with Dobson revealing it unfortunately ruined her childhood photo albums and memorabilia.<\/p>\n

The guitarist is said to be thriving in his new home environment <\/p>\n

“And a bit of Brian’s (memorabilia) as well,” she added in her Woman’s Weekly interview. <\/p>\n

The incident proved to be the final push they needed to make their long-considered move away from the capital. <\/p>\n

Prior to the flood, they had already been discussing whether London was still the right place for them at this stage of their lives. <\/p>\n

“We had talked a lot about, as we got older, did we still want to be in London?” Dobson revealed.<\/p>\n

The couple ultimately decided they should “move somewhere and slow down a bit,” according to Dobson. <\/p>\n

Their new Surrey home in Windlesham offers them a beautiful forest setting, leaving properties in the area to become desirable, with the average detached house selling for almost \u00a31million.<\/p>\n

The move appears to have been the right decision for the couple, particularly for the legendary Queen guitarist who suffered a stroke last year. <\/p>\n

In January, Dobson shared a heartwarming update about her husband’s well-being since relocating and revealed: \u201cBrian has never been happier since we moved.\u201d <\/p>\n

May revealed to his Instagram followers in a video last year: \u201cI\u2019m here to bring you, first of all, some news, I think. The good news is that I can play the guitar after the events of the last few days. <\/p>\n

\u201cI say this because I was in some doubt, because that little health hiccup happened about a week ago. What they called it was a \u2018minor stroke\u2019.<\/p>\n

The couple moved after their home in London was flooded <\/p>\n

\u201cAll of a sudden, out of the blue, I didn\u2019t have any control over this arm, so it was a little scary. I had the most fantastic care and attention from Frimley Hospital; blue lights flashing the lot, very exciting.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fortunately, his recovery was quick, as he explained to Premier Guitar magazine earlier this year: \u201cAfter only a few days, it\u2019s amazing what you can get back. By sheer willpower, you just start retraining your muscles.”<\/p>\n
