{"id":634937,"date":"2025-12-15T23:57:18","date_gmt":"2025-12-15T23:57:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/634937\/"},"modified":"2025-12-15T23:57:18","modified_gmt":"2025-12-15T23:57:18","slug":"one-battle-after-another-dominates-the-nominations-at-londons-big-film-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/634937\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018One Battle After Another\u2019 dominates the nominations at London\u2019s big film awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Paul Thomas Anderson\u2019s countercultural thriller <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeout.com\/movies\/one-battle-after-another-review\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">One Battle After Another<\/a>, already tipped for Oscars, has dominated the nominations for this year\u2019s London Critics\u2019 Circle Film Awards.<\/p>\n<p>The critically acclaimed political epic picked up nine nominations, including Film of the Year, Best Actor for Leonardo DiCaprio and Director of the Year for Anderson, while Benicio del Toro and Sean Penn will go head-to-head in the Best Supporting Actor category.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeout.com\/movies\/hamnet-review-2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hamnet<\/a> also scored highly with the UK critics\u2019 body, picking up eight nods, including Film of the Year. Jessie Buckley was nominated for Actress of the Year and Chlo\u00e9 Zhao collected a Director of the Year nomination, although Paul Mescal missed out in the Actor of the Year bracket.<\/p>\n<p>Ryan Coogler\u2019s musically-charged vampire horror <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeout.com\/movies\/sinners-review-2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sinners<\/a> was another favourite with voters, collecting seven nominations, while Josh Safdie\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeout.com\/movies\/marty-supreme-review-2026\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Marty Supreme<\/a> picked up six.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Other notable nominees include an Actor of the Year nod for Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeout.com\/movies\/marty-supreme-review-2026\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Marty Supreme<\/a>, and four nominations each for Oliver Laxe\u2019s Sir\u0101t, Joachim Trier\u2019s Sentimental Value and Kelly Reichardt\u2019s The Mastermind.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"a647e4cc-32d3-4252-237c-56399ce38c4e\" class=\"photo lazy inline\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"lazy-embed\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/1765843038_192_image.webp.webp\" alt=\"Sentimental Value\" data-caption=\"\u2018Sentimental Value\u2019\" data-credit=\"Photograph: BBC Film\" data-width-class=\"\" data-image-id=\"106263074\"\/>&#13;<br \/>\nPhotograph: BBC Film\u2018Sentimental Value\u2019&#13;<\/p>\n<p>\u2018At a time when A.I. and homogeny seems to be the shorthand answer to everything, it\u2019s encouraging to see the films that our members voted for are teeming with human life, creativity and unique perspectives,\u2019 says Jane Crowther, London Critics\u2019 Circle film section chair. \u2018Boasting bold, vital stories, real experiences and artistry, these movies and their creative teams are evidence that not everything can be made by an algorithm.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The winners in all categories will be announced in London on February 1, 2026.\u00a0<br \/>Here\u2019s the list of nominations in full:<\/p>\n<p><strong>FILM OF THE YEAR &#8211;
