The form of Dominic Calvert-Lewin at Leeds United<\/a> is the talk of the town right now, and rightly so, but it leaves a previous favourite of Daniel Farke\u2019s surely not happy, Joel Piroe<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

United\u2019s preparations for the January window are already underway<\/a>. The club will absolutely know the importance of getting the window right, having seen the impact that January can have in the past three winter windows.<\/p>\n

The focus ought to be squarely on how the 49ers can add to Daniel Farke\u2019s squad. But, there are surely some exits worth keeping tabs on.<\/p>\n

All the discussion from a Leeds perspective after that draw at Brentford is rightly about Dominic Calvert-Lewin<\/a>. <\/p>\n

He scored his fifth goal of the campaign and his fourth in as many games with a trademark towering header to draw us level in the 82nd minute.<\/p>\n

As Leeds went behind in the 70th minute, the man overwhelmingly seen as the club\u2019s \u2018best finisher\u2019, Joel Piroe was sat on the bench unused for 90 minutes.<\/p>\n

It mattered not as Leeds got their rewards for persistence around the edge of the Brentford box. Substitute Willy Gnonto wrapped a superb cross that was just begging for Calvert-Lewin to guide home.<\/p>\n

Joel Piroe surely ready to consider January transfer exit from Leeds United amid continued snub<\/p>\n

In isolation, I don\u2019t think holding Piroe back against Brentford is worth reading too much into. Leeds went to a 4-3-3 so they could work the ball wide and cross to Calvert-Lewin \u2013 it worked with the 28-year-old getting us level from a cross.<\/p>\n

Piroe is not suited to playing as a lone striker in a 4-3-3, especially in a system where United are playing direct and need a focal point that can play with their back to goal. Piroe\u2019s not that guy.<\/p>\n

However, looking at the season as a whole, he\u2019s been consistently overlooked by Farke<\/a>. He\u2019s been an unused sub in seven out of 16 Premier League games. And, he\u2019s only managed 197 minutes across eight outings, two of which he started in. <\/p>\n

Delving further, 136 of those minutes came in August, where he started against Everton and Arsenal to virtually no effect.<\/p>\n

So, since his two starts, he\u2019s mustered around an hour of football. To me, the 24\/25 Championship golden boot winner will surely be considering whether he should be staying.<\/p>\n

In my opinion, we\u2019ve very clearly established that Piroe isn\u2019t suitable to the Leeds setup in this physicality-first approach. As January approaches, there\u2019s a question to be asked and Piroe might make his feelings known.<\/p>\n
