Lorde<\/a> has announced a new album. Her fourth studio album is titled Virgin<\/a>, and it arrives on June 27 via Republic<\/a>. See the new album\u2019s cover below.<\/p>\n

The announcement of Virgin follows last week\u2019s release of the comeback single \u201cWhat Was That<\/a>.\u201d Lorde made the song with Jim-E Stack, Daniel Nigro, and others. It is one of 11 tracks that will feature on Virgin.<\/p>\n

Lorde produced Virgin with Jim-E Stack. The album has additional contributions from Nigro, Fabiana Palladino, Inc. No World\u2019s Andrew Aged, Buddy Ross, and Blood Orange\u2019s Devont\u00e9 Hynes. In addition, Spike Stent and Tom Elmhirst mixed Virgin, while Chris Gehringer mastered it.<\/p>\n

In an email to fans, Lorde wrote:<\/p>\n

THE COLOUR OF THE ALBUM IS CLEAR. LIKE BATHWATER, WINDOWS, ICE, SPIT. FULL TRANSPARENCY. THE LANGUAGE IS PLAIN AND UNSENTIMENTAL. THE SOUNDS ARE THE SAME WHEREVER POSSIBLE. I WAS TRYING TO SEE MYSELF, ALL THE WAY THROUGH. I WAS TRYING TO MAKE A DOCUMENT THAT REFLECTED MY FEMININITY: RAW, PRIMAL, INNOCENT, ELEGANT, OPENHEARTED, SPIRITUAL, MASC.<\/p>\n

I\u2019M PROUD AND SCARED OF THIS ALBUM. THERE\u2019S NOWHERE TO HIDE. I BELIEVE THAT PUTTING THE DEEPEST PARTS OF OURSELVES TO MUSIC IS WHAT SETS US FREE.<\/p>\n

Although Lorde\u2019s last album, Solar Power<\/a>, came out back in 2021, she continued to trickle out visuals for the record over the ensuing years, including videos for \u201cOceanic Feeling<\/a>\u201d and \u201cThe Path<\/a>.\u201d She went on to follow that album with an EP of re-recorded<\/a> Solar Power songs sung in M\u0101ori.<\/p>\n

Outside of that album, Lorde stayed busy in other ways. She joined Euphoria\u2019s Hunter Schafer for a conversation on The A24 Podcast<\/a>, launched a Sonos Radio station called Solarsystym<\/a>, and covered Rosal\u00eda\u2019s song \u201cHentai<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

More recently, she covered \u201cTake Me to the River<\/a>,\u201d joined Charli XCX for \u201cGirl, So Confusing Featuring Lorde<\/a>,\u201d and collaborated with Marlon Williams on \u201cK\u0101hore He Manu E<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n
