Up to 35 firefighters have been battling a blaze involving 300 tonnes of scrap metal waste in Birmingham.<\/p>\n
West Midlands Fire Service<\/a> said it responded to the incident on Park Road, Hockley<\/a>, at around 4.25am today, Tuesday, December 16.<\/p>\n Six fire engines, a 4\u00d74 brigade response vehicle and a hydraulic aerial platform have all been in attendance.<\/p>\n READ MORE: Crews battle Birmingham fire as cause of bad smell explained<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n No injuries or rescues have been reported.<\/p>\n The fire prompted talk online oF a bad smell filling the air.<\/p>\n The fire service said that smoke from the incident was travelling towards the Lozells <\/a>area of the city.<\/p>\n It advised residents to keep doors and windows closed.<\/p>\n Park Road was also closed to allow for the firefighters to work at the scene.<\/p>\n A fire service spokesman told BirminghamLive: “Shortly before 4.25am on Tuesday (16 December), we responded to Park Road, Hockley, Birmingham<\/a>.<\/p>\n “Six fire engines, a 4\u00d74 brigade response vehicle and a hydraulic aerial platform have been in attendance, crewed by firefighters from Highgate, Aston, Ladywood, Handsworth, Smethwick<\/a>, West Bromwick and Perry Barr<\/a> stations.<\/p>\n “This is a fire affecting approximately 300 tonnes of scrap metal waste in a yard compound.<\/p>\n “Three main jets have been in use, as crews work with onsite staff who are assisting us with moving smouldering metal using grab machinery.
