pedestrian was killed and another injured on a major road in Birmingham.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\"><a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/all-about\/west-midlands-police\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\">West Midlands Police<\/a> said a 54-year-old man died after he was struck by a car on Soho Road in Handsworth at around 11.20am yesterday, Tuesday, December 16.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">A woman, 47, suffered leg injuries and remained in hospital.<\/p>\n<p data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The force confirmed a 41-year-old man was held this morning on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Police continued to appeal to members of the public to get in touch if they saw what happened or had footage of the incident around the time of the tragedy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">In a statement, police said: &#8220;We\u2019ve arrested a man on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a man was killed and a woman seriously injured in <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\">Birmingham<\/a> yesterday.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" href=\"http:\/\/\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" rel=\"nofollow\" tabindex=\"0\"\/>&#8220;The tragedy happened when a car collided with the two pedestrians on Soho Road, at the junction near Whitehall Road, shortly before 11.20am.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">&#8220;The man, aged 54, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene, while a woman, aged 47, remains in hospital today with injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">&#8220;The driver of the vehicle fled the scene, but the Vauxhall Corsa involved was recovered nearby.<\/p>\n<p
