It would create up to 15 jobs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">An accompanying planning statement says by PHD architects states: \u201cThe proposed redevelopment of the Gracechurch Centre rooftop into a multifunctional sporting and leisure facility builds upon this regional synergy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cIt leverages Sutton Coldfield\u2019s strategic location and demographic growth, particularly the rise in young families and active residents seeking high-quality recreational spaces.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cBy enhancing leisure infrastructure within the town centre, the development contributes to the broader vision of a healthier, more connected Greater Birmingham.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The proposal the Gracechurch Centre owners say is a \u2018forward-thinking investment\u2019 which will transform an \u2018underutilised urban space into a \u2018vibrant hub for leisure, wellbeing, and community engagement\u2019.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\"><a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" vitality.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cThe restaurant and multi-use areas will encourage longer visits and attract a diverse range of users, including families, remote workers, and local groups, while the changing facilities will support year-round sporting use.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cThe development diversifies the town centre, contributing to broader objectives of improving public health, supporting local enterprise, and making efficient use of brownfield land.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cCollectively, these benefits enhance the town centre\u2019s long-term vitality and viability by increasing footfall and attracting additional retailers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Cllr David Pears (Sutton Trinity), whose ward includes the Gracechurch Centre, gave his first take on the proposal and said: \u201cIt&#8217;s good that they are wanting to continue investing in the town centre.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cit&#8217;s good that it&#8217;s another attraction to bring visitors into the town.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Planning application number: 2025\/06396\/PA has been submitted to <a
