Birmingham council’s household waste centres will be open for longer during the festive period.<\/p>\n
All five of the city’s tips will operate from 7am to 9pm Monday to Friday and then from 8am to 6pm at the weekends.<\/p>\n
These extended hours start on Sunday 21 December and will be in place until January 31.<\/p>\n
Read More: Speed cameras installed along notorious Birmingham road ahead of switch-on<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n There are some exceptions on Christmas<\/a> Eve, when the centres will open at 7am and close at 6pm.<\/p>\n The tips will also remain shut on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and will on New Year’s Eve, the tips will run from 7am to 6pm.<\/p>\n Get breaking news on <\/strong>BirminghamLive WhatsApp<\/a>, click the link to join<\/strong><\/p>\n Visitors are advised to book before visiting all the centres except Castle Bromwich.<\/p>\n Councillor Majid Mahmood said: “These extended hours are about making recycling easier, more accessible and more convenient during one of the busiest times of the year.”<\/p>\n Meanwhile, the industrial dispute between the council and Unite the union is set to continue into 2026, with a third “megapicket” demonstration planned.<\/p>\n The protesters, organized by Strike Map, aim to mobilize people from across the country to join the action from 6am on January 30.<\/p>\n This “Megapicket 3-D” will attempt to shut down all five depot sites across both Birmingham<\/a> and Coventry, as previous similar actions successfully did in May and July.<\/p>\n
