{"id":639275,"date":"2025-12-18T01:12:15","date_gmt":"2025-12-18T01:12:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/639275\/"},"modified":"2025-12-18T01:12:15","modified_gmt":"2025-12-18T01:12:15","slug":"slot-and-hughes-stung-by-man-utd-calls-to-mo-salah-successor-as-fsg-plan-january-raid-for-20m-defender","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/639275\/","title":{"rendered":"Slot and Hughes stung by Man Utd \u2018calls\u2019 to Mo Salah successor as FSG plan January raid for \u00a320m defender"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Liverpool have been rocked by Fabrizio Romano\u2019s latest revelation about Manchester United and Antoine Semenyo, as manager Arne Slot and sporting director Richard Hughes plan to bid for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.<\/p>\n<p>Even before Mo Salah\u2019s public fall-out with manager Slot, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamtalk.com\/liverpool\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Liverpool<\/a> sporting director Richard Hughes was already on the lookout for a long-term successor to the Egyptian winger.<\/p>\n<p>TEAMtalk understands that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamtalk.com\/news\/antoine-semenyo-transfer-news-star-chooses-liverpool-man-utd-man-city-bournemouth-replacement-sources\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo is a top target for Liverpool<\/a>, with our transfer correspondent, Graeme Bailey, reporting on December 9 that Anfield is his \u2018preferred destination\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>We have also reported Manchester United and Manchester City\u2019s interest in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamtalk.com\/antoine-semenyo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Semenyo<\/a>, who has a release clause of \u00a365million (\u20ac74m \/ $87m) in his contract at Bournemouth.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Liverpool \u2018assessing\u2019 Antoine Semenyo situation after Man Utd \u2018calls\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Our transfer insider, Dean Jones, has reported that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamtalk.com\/manchester-united\/man-utd-primed-to-trigger-antoine-semenyo-release-clause-as-liverpool-threaten-spectacular-move\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Man Utd sources insist that the club have \u2018the capability to meet\u2019 Semenyo\u2019s clause in January<\/a>, with Red Devils manager Ruben Amorim keen on the winger.<\/p>\n<p>It now seems that the Red Devils are pressing ahead with their quest to beat the likes of Liverpool, Man City and Tottenham Hotspur to Semenyo\u2019s signature.<\/p>\n<p>Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that Man Utd made \u201ccalls\u201d this week about Semenyo, and so did Man City.<\/p>\n<p>The news will come as a blow for Liverpool and will, perhaps, hasten them to make a firm decision on whether or not to trigger the winger\u2019s release clause.<\/p>\n<p>Romano said on his <a rel=\"noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=G332tbdG6Mc\" target=\"_blank\">YouTube channel<\/a>: \u201cThis week again, Manchester United and Manchester City called to understand the situation of Semenyo.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBetween Monday and Tuesday, some calls took place from Man United and Man City to understand the situation of Semenyo \u2013 \u00a365m release clause.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese clubs all called. Liverpool already called in November, but Liverpool are now assessing what they want to do, in January and also what\u2019s going to happen with Mo Salah before deciding on Semenyo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Ensure you don\u2019t miss our exclusive content by personalising your\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/preferences\/source?q=www.teamtalk.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Google homepage settings to TEAMtalk<\/a>\u00a0to ensure you\u2019re seeing our latest breaking and originally-sourced content first.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Liverpool plan January bid for Marc Guehi<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Like Semenyo, Liverpool are also keen on a 2026 deal for Crystal Palace defender Guehi.<\/p>\n<p>Guehi is out of contract at Crystal Palace at the end of the season, with Liverpool among the clubs keen on securing the services of the England international defender.<\/p>\n<p>Sources have told our transfer correspondent, Graeme Bailey, that, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamtalk.com\/news\/marc-guehi-exclusive-man-city-liverpool-bayern-munich-barcelona-most-wanted-free-agent-of-all-time\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">along with Liverpool, Man City, Chelsea and Tottenham are also interested in Guehi<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamtalk.com\/marc-guehi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Guehi\u2019s<\/a> status as a free agent next summer has sparked interest from Real Madrid as well.<\/p>\n<p>With David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger out of contract at Estadio Bernabeu next summer, Madrid are keen on adding at least one new centre-back to their squad in 2026.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/as.com\/futbol\/primera\/mercado-de-fichajes-en-directo-ultima-hora-de-real-madrid-barcelona-atletico-y-futbol-internacional-f202512-d-16\/?noti=mercado_mod_port\" target=\"_blank\">AS<\/a>, a Real Madrid-leaning Spanish publication, has claimed that Liverpool, owned by\u00a0Fenway Sports Group (FSG), are planning to bid for Guehi in the January transfer window in order to beat competition from other clubs, including Madrid.<\/p>\n<p>The report has noted: \u2018After Liverpool\u2019s failed move for Guehi in the summer, the English club are looking to get ahead of all his suitors and will try to sign him in January.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Many teams want him when he becomes a free agent in June, but the English side want to get ahead of everyone in the winter transfer window.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>While AS has not reported how much Liverpool plan to bid for Guehi in January, our transfer correspondent, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamtalk.com\/liverpool\/reds-think-they-know-marc-guehi-transfer-outcome-sources-reveal-hijack-attempt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fraser Fletcher, revealed on December 12<\/a> that a bid of \u00a315-20million (up to \u20ac23m, $27m) is needed to convince <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamtalk.com\/crystal-palace\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Palace<\/a> to part company with their star defender, who has already decided that he will not extend his stay at Selhurst Park and will not sign a new deal.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Liverpool learn Kenan Yildiz stance<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Alongside Semenyo,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamtalk.com\/liverpool\/mo-salah-replacements-reds-identify-four-targets-bayern-munich-stance-michael-olise-sale\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Juventus star Kenan Yildiz is another attacking player\u00a0 that Liverpool admire<\/a>, with the Turkey international able to play in a number of roles in attack.<\/p>\n<p>Talks have been going on between Juventus and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamtalk.com\/tag\/kenan-yildiz\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Yildiz<\/a> over a new contract, but no progress has been made.<\/p>\n<p>While Liverpool will have been encouraged by this, SportMediaSet journalist Gianni Balzarini has claimed that, as of now, Yildiz is not planning to push for a move away from Juventus.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tuttojuve.com\/calciomercato\/balzarini-per-il-rinnovo-di-yildiz-la-volonta-e-quella-di-759822\" target=\"_blank\">TuttoJuve<\/a> quotes Balzarini as saying about Yildiz: \u201cHis entourage is there, he\u2019s present in Turin, there\u2019s the desire to draft an agreement by Christmas, or at least by the end of this year, and after that it will have to be a fairly important, substantial draft agreement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy does Juve keep saying they have to hurry? It\u2019s true that the player is locked into a contract until 2029, but it\u2019s equally true that, as you well know, contracts can have a relative value when faced with a player\u2019s potential desire to leave their team, their club, and I\u2019m not aware of Juve ever holding onto someone against their will.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat said, Yildiz has absolutely not expressed a desire to leave Juve, but it\u2019s clear that a feeling that lingers over time can lead to unpleasant situations, especially since the alternatives mainly concern England, with Chelsea, Manchester United, and even Arsenal, who continue to gather information.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, Real Madrid is interested.
