The new town centre neighbourhood at Stopford Park will bring 442 new homes across three buildings based on Greek Street around the former Stockport Arts College, between the railway station and Wellington Road.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Developer Cityheart announced this week that the first block in the development, known as Bosden, has \u2018topped out\u2019 reaching the highest point of the structure, with 62 homes to be built in the building.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">An event at the site was attended by <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/stockport-council\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\">Stockport council<\/a> leader Mark Roberts who said: \u201cThe 62 homes as part of the 442-home development at the former Stockport College site will enable more people to proudly call Stockport town centre their home, with easy access to transport links, jobs, our brilliant leisure facilities, bars, restaurants, shops, and our public spaces.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s more than new homes, the development is creating a confident, new urban neighbourhood that signals ambition for our town centre, proudly blending Stockport\u2019s heritage and modern design to breathe new life into historic buildings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cAlongside the new apartments, the landscaped art park will provide a vibrant green space for residents and visitors to relax and connect.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/0_JS391010915.jpg\" alt=\"The view from the Bosden building overlooking Stockport (Image: Declan Carey)\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>The view from the Bosden building overlooking Stockport (Image: Declan Carey)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The first residents are expected to be moving into Bosden next year. Alongside this, there will be 258 apartments in the 16-storey Lyme building, and 122 build-to-rent homes in the Torkington site, along with a residents\u2019 lounge and rooftop terrace.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">As for the Grade II-listed former Stockport Arts College, <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/news\/greater-manchester-news\/huge-change-way-stockport-32731060\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\">this will become a flexible workspace and social hub<\/a> for businesses, which will be known as Cheers and Smith.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Greg Ball, development director at Cityheart, said: \u201cThere\u2019s lots of investment going into Stockport, it has all the ingredients for a really busy and bustling future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Mr Ball also commented on some of the difficulties of developing on brownfield sites.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">He told the Local Democracy Reporting Service: \u201cIn Bosden we\u2019re bringing in 62 homes for open market sale, and they\u2019ll be offered to the local community, local people wanting to buy and invest in these properties.
