{"id":639978,"date":"2025-12-18T09:47:15","date_gmt":"2025-12-18T09:47:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/639978\/"},"modified":"2025-12-18T09:47:15","modified_gmt":"2025-12-18T09:47:15","slug":"man-jailed-for-serious-assault-in-edinburgh-that-happened-in-may-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/639978\/","title":{"rendered":"Man jailed for serious assault in Edinburgh that happened in May 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#13;<br \/>\n            &#13;<br \/>\n                                &#13;<\/p>\n<p>A man has been jailed for a serious assault in the Leith area of Edinburgh.<\/p>\n<p>Damien May, 58, was sentenced to two years and seven months in prison at the High Court in Edinburgh on Wednesday, 17 December 2025. <\/p>\n<p>He previously pleaded guilty at the High Court in Glasgow on Thursday, 20 November.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/damien-may.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"182\" height=\"182\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The incident happened around 2pm on Monday, 20th May 2024, outside a premises on North Junction Street. A 56-year-old man was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment to serious injuries.<\/p>\n<p>Detective Constable Calum Turnbull, of Edinburgh CID, said: &#8220;This was a serious and violent assault which resulted in significant injuries that will have a long-term and lasting impact on the victim&#8217;s life. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cViolent behaviour such as this is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
