When I am in need of a break I tend to get out of Liverpool. I like a change of scenery, exploring somewhere new and feeling completely switched off from life back home.<\/p>\n

But I learnt that you don’t need to leave the city to have a perfect winter break. I stayed at Hope Street Hotel, located in Liverpool city centre, and was blown away by the facilities. Even better, the hotel is right on the doorstep of some of the finest pubs in Liverpool; Ye Cracke<\/a>, The Philharmonic Dining Rooms<\/a> and Peter Kavanagh\u2019s<\/a>. What more could you ask for?<\/p>\n

The Liverpool hotel was named as the best spa in the Northwest England in September 2024 by The Sunday Times. The guide, available via an interactive online platform<\/a>, described the spa as “the perfect weekend getaway with friends.” It’s no surprise, really.<\/p>\n

My partner and I stayed overnight at the hotel with access to its evening spa for two hours. I’d seen countless videos of the spa’s heated courtyard pool, where visitors sit prosecco in hand, soaking away in the bubbles. I couldn’t wait to be one of them.<\/p>\n

We arrived at the spa just before our start time at 4pm and were given robes, towels and flip flops. After getting changed into our swimwear and robes we were shown around the spa facilities by a member of the team, who guided through its thermal journey and took our drink order.<\/p>\n

We both ordered a prosecco and had a proper look at what was on offer. The thermal journey has eight areas which are either hot or cold. The spa claims that “alternating and combining hot and cold spa experiences can have a significant positive effect on your health”.<\/p>\n

From its Himalayan salt sauna to Aroma steam room, the facilities were second to none. I also loved how they were quite spacious, so you never felt as though you were in the way of other visitors.<\/p>\n

One of my favourite facilities was the Tepidarium. This was a room with heated beds which are said to offer “complete relaxation”. We spent a good portion of our time here, laying back and completely switching off. It was heavenly.<\/p>\n

The pool facilities were also lovely. There’s an indoor pool which is 15 metres, and comes with water blades, swim jet and underwater music. The star of the show is its heated courtyard pool, which was glowing blue in the dark, winter night.<\/p>\n

I honestly wished we’d have had longer but fortunately we had a relaxing room waiting for us. We stayed in a king room which came with a king-sized double bed, with a raindance shower over a big bath.<\/p>\n

It also had a coffee machine and tea making facilities. The room itself was stunning with bare brick walls and wooden features, giving it a really cosy, attic feel.<\/p>\n

The hotel stay was one of the most relaxing experiences I’d had in a long time. Its beautiful rooms and spa felt like we were world’s away, allowing us to completely switch off and recharge.<\/p>\n
