Image: Fosse Green Energy<\/p>\n<p><strong>For other planning stories that affect you, <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/publicnoticeportal.uk\/?utm_source=IMG+Newsletters&amp;utm_campaign=1dc50c7fe8-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2025_02_18_12_10_COPY_03&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_term=0_-9a0d492991-643286352\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>visit our Public Notice Portal here.<\/strong><\/a><strong\/><\/p>\n<p>It would occupy countryside to the south-west of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lincsonline.co.uk\/lincoln\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lincoln<\/a>, around the A46 and Witham St Hughes, for up to 60 years.<\/p>\n<p>Its size was compared to a \u2018London borough\u2019 by North Kesteven District councillors as they outlined a litany of complaints with the project.<\/p>\n<p>An application from Windel Energy and Recurrent Energy is expected to be determined by the Government in 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Of the 14 planning matters the council can consider, it believes that the solar farm would negatively impact eight of these: landscape and visual impact, ecology and biodiversity, cultural heritage, glint and glare, soil and agricultural land, fire safety, cumulative effects and rights of way.<\/p>\n<p>Two of the impacts are expected to be positive, and others would be neutral or could go either way.<\/p>\n<p>Ian Carrington told the planning committee on Monday (December 15): \u201cThe cumulative impact in North Kesteven and Lincolnshire as a whole is absolutely enormous.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe potential percentage becoming glass would radically change the character of the countryside.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Marianne Overton, who brought 500 letters of opposition from residents with her, said: \u201cAttractive villages in the rural countryside will find themselves in industrial land.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Council leader Richard Wright criticised the idea that the land would be returned to farming after 60 years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe don\u2019t know the long-term effect of covering land in panels. There\u2019s no evidence for the applicants to say it can be handed back and instantly be put back to use,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>David Suiter said: \u201cIt looks to be the size of a London borough \u2013 or several of them if you consider all the other solar farms being planned.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The report will be submitted to the government\u2019s planning inspectors, who will hold a full hearing into the application once it\u2019s submitted next year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Plans for a huge solar farm have triggered multiple objections.
