Just 45 years after becoming a comedian!<\/p>\n

Rosie O\u2019Donnell is to make her Edinburgh Fringe debut \u2013\u00a045 years after starting her stand-up career<\/p>\n

The American\u00a0 comedian had her own daytime\u00a0talk show from 1996 to 2002, when she earned the nickname Queen Of Nice.<\/p>\n

She came out\u00a0as a\u00a0lesbian\u00a0in 2002 and is an outspoken advocate for\u00a0gay rights. But she has been\u00a0 a bete noire for MAGA supporters ever since Donald Trump unleashed a \u2018vicious\u2019 media blitz against her in 2006, after she questioned his claim to have any\u00a0moral authority given his string of affairs\u00a0<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, shortly after Trump was inaugurated for a second term, O’Donnell moved to Ireland, where she is in the process of securing citizenship.<\/p>\n

She said: \u2018I\u2019m beyond excited for my first Fringe Festival! I’m thankful to be a part of this historic gathering of artists of all shapes and sizes – I’m so happy to be included and hope you can stop by and say hello!\u2019<\/p>\n

Producers say her show, Here & Now, will reflect on the comic’s life and career \u2018with Rosie\u2019s signature blend of heart, humour and honesty\u2019.<\/p>\n

Caroline Rhea \u2013 best known for her role as\u00a0Hilda Spellman\u00a0in Sabrina the Teenage Witch \u2013\u00a0will also be performing at the Fringe, following a short tour of Scotland last year.<\/p>\n

Both will be part of the Gilded Balloon\u2019s 40th anniversary programme, which also includes Alan Davies<\/a>\u2019s first Fringe run in a decade as he launches his new tour, Think Ahead, as well as a reunion of Smack The Pony.<\/p>\n

Other comedy highlights at the venue announced today include Fred MacAulay<\/a> returning with No Podcast Live, blind Glaswegian comedian Jamie MacDonald<\/a>, Matt Forde<\/a>\u2019s Political Party podcast and Hal Cruttenden<\/a> and Ronni Ancona joining forces for In Pieces, a podcast where they seek help from celebrity guests on dealing with performance jitters.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile Michelle Brasier and Chloe Petts<\/a> will be hosting a UK incarnation of the Melbourne Comedy Festival hit Comedians On Stage Auditioning for Musicals.<\/p>\n

Most tickets go on sale on Tuesday, but some will be released at midday tomorrow.<\/p>\n

Karen and Katy Koren, artistic directors of Gilded Balloon, said: \u2018We\u2019re so proud to still be working with some of the most exciting acts in the country at the world\u2019s biggest arts festival\u2026 Our programme will showcase some of the very best rising talent in comedy as well as hard-hitting theatre and fantastic musicals.\u2019<\/p>\n

And Davies praised the venue, saying it was \u2018an incredible achievement to run so many venues for so many decades while still championing the quirky, risky, bonkers Fringe shows we all love\u2019.<\/p>\n
