Manchester United legend Gary Neville has revealed he “snapped” at Liverpool supporters following their Premier League title triumph on Sunday.<\/p>\n

The Sky Sports pundit made a hasty exit from Anfield after Liverpool’s emphatic 5-1 victory over Tottenham secured the title.<\/p>\n

Neville abandoned his usual post-match podcast duties as the atmosphere turned hostile, facing further confrontations outside the stadium and on his drive home.<\/p>\n

Footage released by Liverpool’s official club commentary showed the 50-year-old rushing to leave his position in the gantry immediately after the final whistle.<\/p>\n

“At the end of the game, I normally do a podcast but I made the decision partway through, it was getting a bit fruity up where I was in the gantry,” Neville explained on the It’s Called Soccer podcast.<\/p>\n

“The security guard was with me, I got my backpack literally as the final whistle went and Peter [Drury] usually throws to me but they agreed that I wouldn’t have to speak,” he continued.<\/p>\n

Neville and his security managed to escape quickly through the concourse, beating the crowds.<\/p>\n

However, his relief was short-lived. “What I didn’t then imagine was the carnage and people outside and I got absolutely abused,” he admitted.<\/p>\n

“I snapped at a couple of people as well to be fair,” Neville revealed, describing the confrontations.<\/p>\n

The former defender’s ordeal continued on his journey home. “A guy on the M60 on the way home, honestly, I’ve never been aggressive in my life but if I could have pulled over…”<\/p>\n

“It wasn’t a great last half hour after the game. It was a bit old school,” he added.<\/p>\n

The confrontation came on a particularly painful day for Neville, as Liverpool’s victory brought them level with Manchester United on 20 league titles.<\/p>\n

Despite his personal feelings, Neville acknowledged the achievement professionally. “I didn’t enjoy it but professionally, it’s a great achievement,” he said.<\/p>\n

“I knew I was always going to be there on Sunday but it’s over and done with now.”<\/p>\n
