Hull FC<\/a>, and from there on in, his mind was set.<\/p>\nOne of eight new recruits at the Black and Whites for the 2026 season and beyond, Hill, opting to leave Wigan to sign a four-year deal at Hull, is here for the right reasons.<\/p>\n
Ultimately, it’s all about success, and by his own account, it’s about ‘doing something special’ \u2013 a feat the 22-year-old believes the club, who will be led once again by head coach John Cartwright next year, is more than capable of.<\/p>\n
Opening up on his move to Hull FC, the prop forward told Hull Live: “I would say the coaching staff was a big factor. I really like what Carty and the boys are doing. He’s a really good bloke. He’s very hands-on in training and I’m really enjoying what he’s about.<\/p>\n
“They’ve also got a young set of local lads \u2013 Lewis Martin, Harvey Barron, Davy Litten, Will Pryce, etc. \u2013 and they have all signed long-term deals. I think we can make something special happen here and I want to be a part of that.<\/p>\n
“There are a lot of quality young lads and there are also some older lads, really good older lads, who sprinkle their stamp on us and help us mature. It’s a really good balance.”<\/p>\n
A product of the Wigan system, Hill, who starred in the 2024 World Club Challenge victory over Penrith Panthers, senses the same beliefs at Hull as at his previous club.<\/p>\n
He continued: “They (Wigan) give you belief and they give you time, but that’s the same at Hull now. The coaches believe in us and are putting time into us. They’re putting effort into us and that makes us better players.<\/p>\n
“I’m only young and I know I need to work on my game, but there’s a different breed of players here who I can learn from. I’m looking forward to the challenge.<\/p>\n
“I like to pride myself on my work rate and hopefully I can bring that to the team. I want to carry well and hit well \u2013 hopefully I can get a few big ones in.”<\/p>\n
Settling into his new club, Hill is already at home. Knuckling down this pre-season, the front rower has hit the ground running after representing Cumbria in the off-season.<\/p>\n
“I’m really proud of where I come from and it means a lot to me,” Hill said on his Cumbrian roots. “But I’ve moved over here now and I’m settling in well.<\/p>\n
“It’s been really good so far and I’m really enjoying it. There is a really good set of lads here and I’m enjoying the training.<\/p>\n
“It’s been all new to me, really. I knew Custy (Cade Cust) from Wigan when he was there, and Prycey \u2013 I played with him at England Knights, but you get to know lads from playing against each other.<\/p>\n
“Again, they’re a really good set of lads, so that’s helped me coming into a new club. It’s been a really good laugh from the start. The squad are all different. There are lads who are a bit more serious than others, but those differences are really good. I’m really enjoying it.”<\/p>\n
As for his Hull goals, Hill wants to reach the top, both for club and country. He’s had a taste of success \u2013 and he wants more.<\/p>\n
“I’m just excited to be here,” Hill added. “Hopefully I can get another moment like that (the WCC) in my career. It was really special and it would be unbelievable to experience something like that here.<\/p>\n
“I know I’ve got a lot to work on in my game, though, and I’m still only young, so I’ll focus on that more than anything. Hopefully Hull brings the best out of me.<\/p>\n
“It’s a big rugby city and when you’re out and about, people come and speak to you and introduce themselves, which is nice.
