A BRIT woman has been found dead lying in a pool of blood at her home in France. <\/p>\n

Cops said the victim, understood to be 65 years old, suffered “deep injuries caused by a sharp object”. <\/p>\n

The victim’s body was found at her home in the village of Tremolat<\/a> in the Dordogne, state prosecutor Sylvie Martins Guedes said. <\/p>\n

The mum-of-four is said to have suffered multiple wounds to her chest, groin, arm, and leg.<\/p>\n

Guedes added: “The injuries showed particular violence, and their location demonstrated a desire to kill.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

According to the prosecutor’s office, it was the victim’s friend – understood to be in a relationship with her – who alerted the cops after discovering their body. <\/p>\n

He said he found the victim “collapsed and unconscious”. <\/p>\n

One local said: “I closed the shutters around 9pm everything was calm.<\/p>\n

“But at 11pm I saw a lot of flashing lights with the emergency services.<\/p>\n

“The police then rang my doorbell around midnight to see if I had noticed anything suspicious, but I didn’t see or hear anything.”<\/p>\n

Local media outlet Francebleu\u00a0<\/a>reported: “In front of the house in Tr\u00e9molat, we can still see a large trace of blood which testifies to the violence of the blows inflicted on this woman.” <\/p>\n

The media outlet reports that the victim\u00a0was one of 18 football<\/a> players who left for South Africa<\/a> less than a month ago to participate in the Grandma’s World Cup, after training between Cal\u00e8s and Tr\u00e9molat.<\/p>\n

Her teammates posted on a Facebook<\/a> page: “Everyone is in shock. <\/p>\n

“She was super helpful, she was kindness personified.” <\/p>\n

Cops have now opened an investigation<\/a> into the case and are treating it as a homicide. <\/p>\n

The murder weapon is yet to be found. <\/p>\n

A police spokesperson said: “The search is underway to identify and arrest the perpetrator of this crime.<\/p>\n

“At this stage, no hypothesis is being favoured.” <\/p>\n

The victim had lived in the department for several years. <\/p>\n
