{"id":643801,"date":"2025-12-20T07:22:34","date_gmt":"2025-12-20T07:22:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/643801\/"},"modified":"2025-12-20T07:22:34","modified_gmt":"2025-12-20T07:22:34","slug":"the-largest-exhibition-of-queen-elizabeth-iis-fashion-ever-staged-is-opening-at-buckingham-palace-in-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/643801\/","title":{"rendered":"The Largest Exhibition of Queen Elizabeth II\u2019s Fashion Ever Staged is Opening at Buckingham Palace in 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Opulent evening gowns by Norman Hartnell,\u00a0Harris Tweed suits and the wedding dress worn by the Queen Elizabeth II are just some of the things visitors will be able to see at a new exhibition at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeout.com\/london\/attractions\/buckingham-palace\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Buckingham Palace<\/a> in 2026, as the palace has announced plans to stage the biggest exhibition of the late Queen\u2019s fashion ever displayed.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Marking the centenary of the late Lizzie\u2019s birth, in the new year more than 200 items from the Queen\u2019s wardrobe will be displayed at the palace for the landmark exhibit.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"e901698e-c543-c9aa-9288-3254350de585\" class=\"photo lazy inline\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"lazy-embed\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/1766215351_872_image.webp.webp\" alt=\"Princess Elizabeth\u2019s Wedding Dress, Norman Hartnell\" data-caption=\"\" data-credit=\"Photograph: Courtesy of Buckingham Palace \" data-width-class=\"\" data-image-id=\"106356963\"\/>&#13;<br \/>\nPhotograph: Courtesy of Buckingham Palace&#13;<\/p>\n<p>Queen Elizabeth II: Her Life in Style will comprise garments from all 10 decades of Her Majesty\u2019s life, from off-duty style at Balmoral to regal ball gowns.\u00a0Also on display will be never-before-seen design sketches, fabric samples and handwritten correspondence, showing how the Queen was dressed behind the scenes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Highlights on show will include the Queen\u2019s 1947 Norman Hartnell wedding dress, her 1953 coronation gown, a\u00a0Balmoral tartan kilt, and a 1934 bridesmaid dress worn by the Queen as a child. Clothing by\u00a0contemporary designers \u2013 Erdem, Richard Quinn and Christopher Kane \u2013 will\u00a0highlight the Queen\u2019s later wardrobe and her continued influence on the fashion industry. In the year that she would have turned 100 years old, this exhibition will be a celebration of Queen Elizabeth\u2019s uniquely British style and her enduring fashion legacy.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Queen Elizabeth II: Her Life in Style will open\u00a0at the King\u2019s Gallery in Buckingham Palace on April 10 2026.
