I like it because you don’t have to dress up — you can just be relaxed.

What’s the first thing you do when you get back to London?

Usually, I just call everyone that I haven’t seen for a couple of months and then try to meet up or go for a walk. And I usually go to the steam room to try and get rid of that tired feeling.

Getty Images

What is your earliest London memory?

My earliest London memory is probably going to Camden Market with my mum. I remember she bought this amethyst purple choker necklace. I was about 5 or 6 and I’d always ask to borrow it, but it was her special item that I couldn’t wear as a child.

I don’t know if it was on the same day but I remember going to this spell shop in Covent Garden. And then I did this love spell on this boy at school. I think it actually worked!

What was the last gig you went to in London?

It was a night called Jazz Refreshed and my friend Loren did this improv synthesiser set. There was a sense that this is a really important form of expression and to go to a show where someone is totally improvising with no rehearsals is not something that you experience very often.

It felt like a reflection of the way that people hold themselves back in the world and it was just a life affirming moment to be at this gig.

AFP via Getty Images

What shops do you rely on?

The shop I rely on is Fig and Grain on Broadway Market. It’s where I get all my food shopping – good ingredients are really important.

But clothing is any little vintage market. I still go to Portobello Market in Notting Hill and vintage archives in London. There are a lot of archives I go to for renting or buying pieces.

Where is the best first date spot?

I like to be quite private about these things so I usually invite the person to my house for a cup of tea. Spontaneity is important — not like sitting opposite each other at a restaurant. It’s too formal.

What would you do if you were Mayor of London for the day?

I’d like to shut down all the major institutions and let people have a moment of freedom without having to exist within these pillars that we have got so used to having to conform to. Maybe people lose their heads and go out in the streets and go mad.

My favourite Londoner is…

It’s probably the Tube. Sometimes I’ll leave ten minutes before I’m supposed to be somewhere and I’ll miraculously make it on time because of the Tube. It’s my favourite Londoner personified.

Supplied

If you could live in any London building, which would it be?

I would try and get some massive house in Holland Park. Actually, the Cosmic House in Holland Park! It’s this 1970s postmodern interior design house. I love that house but I wouldn’t actually live in it, because I think everyone should be able to see it like a museum.

My favourite London meal is…

Once my friends took me to this restaurant called The Academy above Andrew Edmunds and that was really good. It was simple food, like fish and vegetables, and then a rum baba for dessert. But I also have friends that are great at cooking so a lot of my favourite meals are in people’s homes or sometimes my own home.

Celeste has experienced the magic of Camden Market and the capital’s best gigs, but nothing says London quite…

[7757
748,52034,41684,393,4884,257,47389,30690,16,15
0":"post-644342","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-london","8":"tag-britain","9":"tag-camden-market","10":"tag-clothing","11":"tag-england","12":"tag-great-britain","13":"tag-london","14":"tag-my-london","15":"tag-shops","16":"tag-uk","17":"tag-united-kingdom
["GET
