Schools in a Cardiff suburb were placed in lockdown after someone was reportedly seen carrying an air rifle. The alleged incident happened at around 9.20am in Adamsdown where a man was described as carrying what looked like an air rifle.<\/p>\n
In response to the situation, some local schools initiated lockdown procedures for a short period. Officers have since communicated updates to the affected schools.<\/p>\n
South Wales Police<\/a> confirmed no threats were made towards the public and no injuries were reported. A 53-year-old man from Cardiff<\/a> has been arrested on suspicion of possessing a loaded\/unloaded air weapon in a public place and is currently in police custody.<\/p>\n A spokesman for the force said: “At approximately 9.20am yesterday, Friday, December 19, South Wales Police received reports of a man in the Adamsdown area carrying an item described as an air rifle. We want to reassure the community that no threats were made towards any members of the public, and, fortunately, there were no injuries reported.<\/p>\n “In response to the situation, some local schools initiated lockdown procedures for a short period.
