domestic violence<\/a>.<\/p>\nIn 2023, he was also told to attend the Caledonian System – a project for men guilty of such abuse – with Keel being deemed \u201ca high risk offender\u201d.<\/p>\n
But his attendance was described as \u201csporadic\u201d and he also went on to flout a court-imposed community payback order.<\/p>\n
In January last year, Keel was instead put on 12 months’ supervision and an 18-week curfew.<\/p>\n

At the time of the killing, Keel and mum-of-four Maxine had been in a relationship for 18 months.<\/p>\n
He had recently moved into her home in Riddrie.<\/p>\n
Maxine had once been described as \u201chealthy, happy and outgoing\u201d.<\/p>\n
However, the court heard she had told others of physical violence being inflicted on her by Keel.<\/p>\n
Maxine had been seen with black eyes as well an injury to her jaw.<\/p>\n
She also had \u201cgrab marks\u201d around her neck.<\/p>\n
Maxine admitted to a neighbour Keel had punched her.<\/p>\n
However, she was scared to report the thug in fear of repercussions.<\/p>\n
Prosecutor David Dickson said: \u201cFamily and friends warned her they felt Keel posed a threat to her.\u201d<\/p>\n
In the hours before the murder, Keel called his own mum asking to get picked up claiming he was \u201cleaving\u201d Maxine.<\/p>\n
They went to his father\u2019s home in the southside of Glasgow before he later got a taxi back to Maxine\u2019s house.<\/p>\n
He was described as \u201cdrunk\u201d and Maxine was in bed when he got there.<\/p>\n
Mr Dickson said it was at the property the fatal attack then occurred.<\/p>\n
Maxine\u00a0was found the next morning\u00a0still in the bed with Keel wrapped in a blanket sitting beside her.<\/p>\n
Mr Dickson said: \u201cShe appeared to have fresh injuries to her face and her breathing was described as laboured.\u201d<\/p>\n
Maxine was rolled onto her side. <\/p>\n
Advocate depute Mr Dickson told the court: \u201cKeel said he thought she was having an allergic reaction and that there was no need to call an ambulance.\u201d<\/p>\n
At around 6pm, G4S security staff arrived to fit an electronic tag on Keel due to the curfew imposed on him weeks earlier.<\/p>\n
But he steered them away claiming he had just woken up.<\/p>\n
The court heard Keel instead went on to dial 999, claiming Maxine\u2019s tongue was swollen and that he had not seen her awake that day.<\/p>\n
Mercy crews arrived to find her still lying on the blood-stained bed, partially covered with a duvet.<\/p>\n
It was found she was sadly already dead.<\/p>\n
Mr Dickson said Maxine had 51 separate injuries, including brain damage, significant bruising, fractures and wounds.<\/p>\n
These were likely caused by punches, kicks and being stamped upon.<\/p>\n
The imprint of the soles of Keel\u2019s shoes was found on her leg such was the force.<\/p>\n
The hearing was told Maxine was the only child of her grieving parents Joseph and Mary Clark.<\/p>\n
Keel remains in custody as sentencing was deferred for reports.<\/p>\n
Lord Mulholland told him: \u201cYou gave this lady a savage beating. You are a serial domestic abuser.\u201d<\/p>\n
Scottish Conservative shadow minister for victims and community safety Sharon Dowey MSP said:\u00a0<\/strong>\u201cThis horrific case exposes the reality of the SNP\u2019s soft-touch justice system.<\/p>\n\u201cThe public will be appalled to learn this violent criminal was able to be free to offend again in the most brutal way.<\/p>\n
