Patrick Bamford is beginning to find his feet since his departure from Leeds in August.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The England international signed a short-term deal with Sheffield United in the middle of November, despite previously chanting against Chris Wilder after Leeds<\/a> beat the Blades to promotion last season.<\/p>\n

Patrick Bamford<\/a> helped Sheffield United record a 3-0 win over Birmingham on Saturday, and after he found the net, a chant rang out which will surely humour Leeds fans.<\/p>\n

After the 32-year-old netted his third goal for Sheffield United, cries of \u2018Wilder is a w\u2014\u2013\u2018 could be heard ringing around Bramall Lane.<\/p>\n

It was, of course, a direct reference to the chant Bamford and Harry Gray started at the gates of Elland Road last summer after Leeds won the Championship title, although Sheffield United fans have now hilariously adopted it as their own.<\/p>\n

It signals a surprise turnaround since that summer day, where nobody would have expected<\/a> the man from Grantham to actually be scoring goals under Wilder just months later.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, it is testament to the both of them that they were able to laugh about it and move on, with Leeds fans surely pleased to see Bamford settled and scoring goals once again after a period in the football wilderness.<\/p>\n

The contract Bamford, who briefly trained with Coventry<\/a>, signed in mid-November was so short that it actually expires when December ends.<\/p>\n

However, Wilder \u2013 who now wants Joe Rothwell<\/a> too \u2013 is keen to keep the man who scored 60 goals in 205 appearances for Leeds, as he told the BBC in his press conference ahead of the visit of Birmingham.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cIt\u2019s with Pat, Pat\u2019s agents and us as a football club, but speaking to Pat on a regular basis, he\u2019s enjoying his football. He\u2019s expressed his wish to extend but as you know, agents will want to get the best deal.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bamford admitted he felt emotional after mutually agreeing to terminate his contract at Leeds, saying it was \u201call too raw\u201d for him in the immediate aftermath of leaving.<\/p>\n

After all he did for Leeds, it would be nice to see the striker come to an agreement with Sheffield United over a long-term contract, enabling him to fully settle down and end a turbulent period of his career.<\/p>\n
