TRNSMT bosses revealed headliner Richard Ashcroft\u2019s set could kick off earlier \u2014 to avoid clashing with Scotland\u2019s World Cup match against Morocco.<\/p>\n

The ex-Verve frontman\u2019s opening night performance is due to finish at 11pm, just as Steve Clarke\u2019s men get their second tie under way in Boston.<\/p>\n

And there are fears revellers could stage a mass walkout during the Lucky Man singer\u2019s show<\/a> on the bash\u2019s opening night to get home<\/a> or to a pub on time to watch the footie.<\/p>\n

Festival<\/a> chief Geoff Ellis has now hinted set times could be moved \u2014 while backing Scotland<\/a> for a glory run at next<\/a> summer\u2019s tournament in the USA<\/a>, Mexico<\/a> and Canada<\/a>. <\/p>\n

He told The Scottish Sun on Sunday: \u201cIt\u2019s very early days, with TRNSMT<\/a> and the World Cup<\/a> still over six months away.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is flexibility in timings and we will be ensuring fans can enjoy our line-up as well as watching Scotland\u2019s second game on the road to bringing the World Cup home.\u201d<\/p>\n

The three-day music bash is returning for a ninth year at Glasgow<\/a> Green, with other Friday night acts including Wolf Alice, Nile Rodgers<\/a> & Chic and The Beta Band.<\/p>\n

It has already been switched from July to June to avoid clashing with the Commonwealth<\/a> Games in the city.<\/p>\n

But the move has now left fans with a dilemma over which to prioritise after Scott McTominay\u2019s spectacular overhead kick helped fire us into the finals with a 4-2 win over Denmark<\/a> at Hampden last month.<\/p>\n

Up to 50,000 revellers could race from the festival site to the nearest bar or nightclub if opening hours are allowed to be extended.<\/p>\n

Former Scotland<\/a> winger Pat Nevin, 62, now a pundit and DJ, said the World Cup will come first \u2014 despite being a massive Verve fan.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cIt\u2019s going to be a tough call for a lot of people.<\/p>\n

\u201cI suspect there will be more than a few caught in a dilemma if they have a ticket.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Verve are one of my favourite bands<\/a> and there aren\u2019t many reasons I\u2019d miss Richard Ashcroft.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut Scotland beats everything. <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d do anything to be there or at the very least in front of a TV<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ted Christopher, 72, from Stirling, is a guitarist and singer who has entertained the Tartan Army before and after matches. <\/p>\n

But ahead of our first World Cup in 28 years, he said: \u201cFootball has to be the winner here.<\/p>\n

\u201cTRNSMT comes every year \u2014 but Scotland in a World Cup doesn\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n

We told how hospitality bosses have pleaded for late licences to screen our three group matches due to the five-hour time difference between the UK<\/a> and USA.<\/p>\n

East Ayrshire<\/a> Council says it will back firms as the World Cup run is \u201cof national significance\u201d.<\/p>\n

Aberdeen politicians asked boozers to get in touch to suggest dates<\/a>, while South Ayrshire chiefs expect discussions \u201cearly next year\u201d.<\/p>\n
