Fire crews were called to a city centre pub this evening (Saturday) after a “smell of gas” was reported. Firefighters<\/a> were called to Danny Mac’s Tavern to reports of a gas smell on the second floor.<\/p>\n A call was made to Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service<\/a> at 10.36pm. Two fire engines were scrambled, arriving at the pub on the corner of Renshaw Street<\/a> and Oldham Street within six minutes.<\/p>\n Images from the scene show people standing around the entrance with two fire engines parked up nearby. A spokesperson for the Fire and Rescue Service said firefighters had used a gas detector.<\/p>\n Each part of the pub was checked over, with all readings coming back at zero, the Fire Service spokesperson said.
