Arne Slot says that Liverpool will assess the extent of Alexander Isak’s injury after the striker was forced off<\/a> in their narrow 2-1 win<\/a> over Tottenham<\/a>. Isak was forced from the pitch just 10 minutes after coming on as a half-time substitute, having been clattered by Micky van de Ven.<\/p>\n The \u00a3125million summer signing put Liverpool<\/a> ahead with a powerful finish past Guglielmo Vicario after being put through on goal by Florian Wirtz’s pass. But he couldn’t enjoy his effort because Van de Ven caught him heavily while trying to block the shot.<\/p>\n The Sweden international appeared to be in agony and his team-mates surrounded him worriedly. He was eventually helped from the pitch by two members of Liverpool’s medical staff and replaced by Jeremie Frimpong.<\/p>\n “We’ll have to wait and see,” Slot told BBC<\/a> Match of the Day when asked about Isak. “It is too short after the game to speak about it but it is never good when a player has to come off. The good thing is that we have a week to go so hopefully we have enough players available to play next week again.”<\/p>\n Speaking in his press conference, Slot added: \u201cI don\u2019t have any news on him. But if a player scores and then gets injured, and doesn\u2019t come back on the pitch, doesn\u2019t try to come back – which is what Conor Bradley tried to do for example but I had to take him off as well because he couldn\u2019t go on.<\/p>\n \u201cBut if a player doesn\u2019t even try to come back, that is usually not a good thing. But I cannot say anything more than that, it is just a gut feeling. Nothing medical to say about it. I haven\u2019t spoken to him about it yet.”<\/p>\n Having come on as a substitute to replace a substitute, Frimpong was himself replaced by Federico Chiesa late on after being left with a bloody lip in a clash with Richarlison. Richarlison halved the deficit from a loose ball before Cristian Romero was dismissed for a second yellow card in added time, leaving Spurs with nine men.<\/p>\n “It was 11 vs 11 there but we had nine minutes added again there,” Slot said. “I think here that was completely fine with the injury treatments, VAR, so I can’t complain at all about he nine minutes. They were close. They came close a few times.<\/p>\n “It’s unbelievable if you play against nine men that I would not be surprised if for the nine minutes they had the ball for eight and half. That is not what you expect and maybe that tells you where we are in this season. We need a few more wins to get a bit more comfortable with setbacks.
