Residents heard ‘clattering’ before seeing police descend after a man was injured in a suspected stabbing in Stockport<\/a>. Emergency services descended on Belmont Street, in Heaton Norris<\/a>, in the early hours of Saturday morning (December 20).<\/p>\n Witnesses described seeing a large police presence at around 12.30am, with paramedics also on the scene. Greater Manchester Police<\/a> says a man suffered stab wounds – but the cause of the injury is not yet known.<\/p>\n He was rushed to hospital with injuries which are not thought to be life-threatening. Forensics investigators were seen on Athol Street, off Belmont Street, later this morning.<\/p>\n Officers were seen knocking on doors in the neighbourhood as enquiries continue. A Belmont Street resident told the Manchester Evening News she had been woken up by her partner, who heard police attend the scene in the middle of the night.<\/p>\n An Athol Street resident added: “It kept me awake most of the night.
