But celebrities gotta eat too, and they have some star recommendations of their own.<\/p>\n<p>We take a look back at The Standard\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/topic\/my-london\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">My London<\/a> interviewees over the past year and sift through our archives to find the best places to do your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/topic\/food-shopping\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">food shopping<\/a> in London this Christmas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-uVWWZ RcEha\">One of the great truisms in life is that you can fall out with your wife, mistress and even your bank manager but never with your butcher<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-hCPjZK ffvCJs\">AA Gill<\/p>\n<p><strong>Michel Roux Jr<\/strong>: <strong>Moens the butcher<\/strong>, a family-run business that\u2019s been there for as long as I can remember, just off Clapham Common. Obviously they have great meat, but they also have a great cheese counter and do lots of stocks and sauces. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Jamie Oliver<\/strong>: At the <strong>Ginger Pig<\/strong> butcher in Borough Market they all know their stuff.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fred Sirieix<\/strong>: <strong>William Rose Butchers<\/strong> in Dulwich for brilliant quality meat.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Anya-Hindmarch.jpeg\" width=\"2000\" height=\"2641\" alt=\"Anya Hindmarch\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"sc-eqUAAy kRUyJB\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Anya Hindmarch recommends M. Moen &amp; Sons butchers<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/lifestyle\/vick-hope-pregnant-guide-to-london-brick-lane-husband-calvin-harris-b1225242.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Vick Hope<\/strong><\/a>: I\u2019m a big fan of the <strong>Hampstead Butcher &amp; Providore<\/strong> for free range, organic meat.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Elizabeth Hurley<\/strong>: <strong>Luigi&#8217;s deli<\/strong> and <strong>Wyndham House<\/strong>, the butchers, both on Fulham Road.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jonathan Saunders<\/strong>: <strong>Hill &amp; Szrok Master Butchers<\/strong> on Broadway Market. It\u2019s old-school, with great staff, and it turns into a no-reservations restaurant in the evening where you sit around the butcher\u2019s bench.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Joan Collins<\/strong>: <strong>Allens<\/strong>, my all-time favourite butcher on Mount Street in Mayfair.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kirstie Allsopp<\/strong>: <strong>Lidgate<\/strong> on Holland Park Avenue is the best butcher&#8217;s.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Fortnum-Mason-Food-and-Drink-Awards-z80ndzo1.jpeg\" width=\"3112\" height=\"4928\" alt=\"Fortnum &amp; Mason Food and Drink Awards\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"sc-eqUAAy kRUyJB\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Tom Parker Bowles buys his meat from HG Walter<\/p>\n<p>Dave Benett<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lorraine Pascale<\/strong>: <strong>The Chelsea Fishmonger<\/strong> has the best fish in town; I go there a couple of times a week<\/p>\n<p><strong>Michel Roux Jr<\/strong>: <strong>Moxon\u2019s<\/strong> the fishmonger, which is on the other side of the common. It\u2019s restaurant-quality fish. You should see the queues out there on a Friday and Saturday, it\u2019s unbelievable.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jamie Oliver<\/strong>: <strong>Golborne Fisheries<\/strong> in W10 \u2013 it does a great job sourcing unusual fish.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dermot O\u2019Leary<\/strong>: <strong>La Petite Poissonnerie<\/strong> in Marylebone. And speedy service with a smile and a twinkle in the eye.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mary Portas<\/strong>: I&#8217;d drive across London to get to <strong>Steve Hatt&#8217;s<\/strong> fishmongers on Essex Road, it&#8217;s the best in the country.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Yotam Ottolenghi<\/strong>: My favourite spots to pick up bread are <strong>Bread By Bike<\/strong> and <strong>Salvino<\/strong> (conveniently positioned on the way home from work).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Angela Hartnett<\/strong>: <strong>The Little Bread Pedlar<\/strong>, which does wonderful breads, and then you\u2019ve also got Steve the honey man.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Paul Smith<\/strong>: <strong>Poil\u00e2ne bakery<\/strong> for the best bread.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/GettyImages-2061329209.jpeg\" width=\"3510\" height=\"5006\" alt=\"Kaya Scodelario\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"sc-eqUAAy kRUyJB\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Kaya Scodelario says you will find \u201cthe best sourdough of your life\u201d at Dunns bakery in Crouch End<\/p>\n<p>Getty Images<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/lifestyle\/lauren-laverne-london-guide-b1234792.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Lauren Laverne<\/strong><\/a>: <strong>Dunns Bakery<\/strong> in Muswell Hill is an institution. Get the rosemary sourdough with salted crust, toast and butter it and watch your life change.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Emma Barnett<\/strong>: Every Friday I hunt down a challah loaf, usually from <strong>Gail\u2019s<\/strong>. Being Jewish in south London has its limitations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-uVWWZ RcEha\">A Latvian woman, as she drove me down Regent Street, asked why young men were queueing outside Nike Town. I explained it was because some new trainers had arrived. She said nothing for about a minute and then, with great seriousness: \u2018I have queued for cheese.\u2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-hCPjZK ffvCJs\">Frank Skinner on the best thing a cabbie has ever said to him<\/p>\n<p><strong>La Fromagerie<\/strong>, with its shops in Marylebone, Bloomsbury and Highbury, is the chef\u2019s choice, described by <strong>Jamie Oliver<\/strong> as \u201cheaven for anyone who loves good food\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Yotam Ottolenghi<\/strong>: La Fromagerie in Highbury is essential for properly aged comt\u00e9 \u2014 their ageing room is a temple to proper cheese. Labour and Wait on Redchurch Street for beautiful, functional kitchen tools that make cooking much more pleasurable. Longdan is where I go for Asian ingredients \u2014 I can lose hours in their aisles. And Phoenicia, in Kentish Town, is my go-to for everything Middle Eastern.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jamie Oliver<\/strong>: Go to La Fromagerie and say, \u2018I want to have a little cheese tasting to take on a picnic.\u2019 Don\u2019t tell them anything. They\u2019ll choose it for you. Believe in the cheese. The power of cheese is profound.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/SEI275712393.jpg\" width=\"3334\" height=\"5000\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"sc-eqUAAy kRUyJB\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Sophie Dahl shops for cheese at La Fromagerie<\/p>\n<p>Dave Benett<\/p>\n<p><strong>Angela Hartnett<\/strong>: I love La Fromagerie in Marylebone. Patricia Michelson\u2019s produce is incredible; she gets the best of the best. She\u2019s been doing it for more than 20 years now, so she really knows her stuff.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Michel Roux Jr<\/strong>: I get superb British cheeses from <strong>Neal\u2019s Yard<\/strong>. It has something new every time I walk in.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Poppy Delevingne<\/strong>: For food, my favourite is <strong>Daylesford<\/strong>. I swear every cheese there has won some kind of award. If it\u2019s a cheddar and it\u2019s won multiple awards, I\u2019m getting it, do you know what I mean?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Joanna Lumley<\/strong>: <strong>The Rippon Cheese Shop<\/strong> in Pimlico does an amazing Emmental and a strong British cheddar.<\/p>\n<p>Best grocery shops in London<\/p>\n<p>And for everything else, whether its for your kitchen staples or specialist delis, our My London interviewees have their own go-to places.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Grace Dent<\/strong>: If I\u2019m passing <strong>Fortnum &amp; Mason<\/strong>, downstairs they have an incredible honey section. <strong>Waitrose<\/strong> in Beckenham has a really good kosher section; I don\u2019t know why particularly in Beckenham. I go to <strong>Yardarm<\/strong> in Leyton, which is a deli and a wine shop \u2014 I did my WSET course there to learn how to taste wine. And I swear by the spice place in <strong>Borough Market<\/strong>, although I find it a bit overwhelming on a Saturday.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Loyd Grossman<\/strong>: <strong>Emilia&#8217;s Deli<\/strong> on the New Kings Road is a superlative Italian delicatessen. I could spend all my time eating through the stock &#8211; it&#8217;s exceptional.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/18f8a4af-943f-4796-964b-7b5de0d8ebe0_d-food-halls-in-store-experience-11-deli.jpg\" width=\"920\" height=\"690\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"sc-eqUAAy kRUyJB\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Harrods has the greatest food hall in the world, says Piers Morgan<\/p>\n<p>Harrods<\/p>\n<p><strong>Andi Oliver<\/strong>: <strong>Palm2<\/strong> is a beautiful little Clapton deli.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ralph Fiennes<\/strong>: <strong>Leila\u2019s Shop<\/strong>. I would be lost without this small shop on Calvert Avenue for my grocery essentials.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Skye McAlpine<\/strong>: <strong>Natoora<\/strong> for fresh fruit, veg and Italian cheeses. Lina Stores for panettone, fresh pasta and pistachio butter.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lewis Goodall<\/strong>: This sounds so bourgeois but there\u2019s a really lovely delicatessen a few minutes from me, <strong>David\u2019s Deli<\/strong> in Streatham Common. The shop I use most is Lidl. Lidl is great!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/lifestyle\/kaya-scodelario-kebab-pub-hampstead-heath-b1209305.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Kaya Scodelario<\/strong><\/a>: For groceries, I go to the <strong>Brazilian Centre<\/strong> in Stamford Hill \u2014 I am half-Brazilian and cook Brazilian food three or four nights a week at home, so I\u2019m there very often.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mary Portas<\/strong>: I&#8217;ve got a really good local deli called <strong>Soloman<\/strong>, which sells bundles of mint and parsley, olives and dates at a great price.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/DMB_The_Launch_Of_The_Whiteley074.JPG\" width=\"5000\" height=\"3333\" alt=\"The Launch Of The Whiteley\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"sc-eqUAAy kRUyJB\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Jackson Boxer buys his food from the Italo Deli<\/p>\n<p>Dave Benett<\/p>\n<p><strong>Angela Hartnett<\/strong>: Down at Spa Terminus in Bermondsey you\u2019ve got brilliant shops \u2014 there\u2019s <strong>The Ham &amp; Cheese Co<\/strong>, which does lovely charcuterie.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/lifestyle\/alicia-vikander-london-drinks-shops-claridges-b1230083.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Alicia Vikander<\/strong><\/a>: <strong>The Grocery Post<\/strong>, up in Highgate, is where I go and get my food.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Vick Hope<\/strong>: I go back to <strong>Ridley Road market<\/strong>, in Dalston, for ingredients whenever I\u2019m cooking Nigerian food, particularly if my mum\u2019s visiting. You can get everything you need \u2014 the selection of African and Asian produce is amazing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Polly Morgan<\/strong>: In Camberwell I was reliant on <strong>TFC<\/strong> for all the Ottolenghi ingredients I\u2019d never heard of.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Monica Bellucci<\/strong>: <strong>Bottega Del San Lorenzo<\/strong> on Beauchamp Place for my Italian groceries.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Paapa Essiedu<\/strong>: I\u2019ve got to shout out Arsenal Supermarket on Blackstock Road because they\u2019re open every day of the year. On Christmas Day, from early till late and they\u2019ve got everything and anything you need: light bulbs, batteries, booze.
