{"id":646461,"date":"2025-12-21T15:05:33","date_gmt":"2025-12-21T15:05:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/646461\/"},"modified":"2025-12-21T15:05:33","modified_gmt":"2025-12-21T15:05:33","slug":"plans-go-in-to-transform-empty-shop-in-acomb-yorkmix","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/646461\/","title":{"rendered":"Plans go in to transform empty shop in Acomb | YorkMix"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"lead\">The former Farmfoods shop in Acomb, York, is set to be taken over by another retailer soon.<\/p>\n<p>Farmfoods closed its freezer store on Front Street  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yorkmix.com\/affordable-york-shop-closes-after-decades-search-begins-for-replacement\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">just over a year ago<\/a>, despite locals urging the retailer bosses to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yorkmix.com\/popular-york-shop-to-close-next-month-customers-may-campaign-to-save-it\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">keep open<\/a> \u201cone of the most consistent low-priced shops\u201d in the area.<\/p>\n<p>It has stood empty since and become something of an eyesore on the otherwise bustling Front Street.<\/p>\n<p>Now though an application has gone in to occupy and transform the building. But it\u2019s not a new shop moving in, but a current store upsizing.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"750\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/1-odsal-house-front-street-acomb-york-2-pd.webp.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-554762\"  \/>The empty Farmfoods store with the current Savers next door. Image: planning documents<\/p>\n<p><strong>Savers<\/strong>, the health and beauty brand which currently operates from the unit next door, wants to take over the old Farmfoods.<\/p>\n<p>A planning application to City of York Council asks for permission to put the Savers branding on the front of the shop, and replace the stairs at the back, which are \u201cin poor condition and are no longer sufficient for the building\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"750\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/1-odsal-house-front-street-acomb-york-3-pd.webp.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-554763\"  \/>The current Savers<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"750\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/1-odsal-house-front-street-acomb-york-4-pd.webp.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-554760\"  \/>Stone steps at the back will be replaced<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"748\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/savers-plan-front-street-acomb-york-pd.webp.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-554764\"  \/>How the shop will look.
