The odds on there being a white Christmas<\/a> in Belfast this year have been slashed as the chances of it snowing have increased.<\/p>\n There has not been a white Christmas<\/a> in Belfast for 14 years and while it is something that many would like to see, most people in Northern Ireland have accepted the fact that it is not going to happen.<\/p>\n However, this year there is a chance of things being a little different with bookmakers Boyle Sports saying that following recent weather<\/a> forecasts it has slashed its odds this week in the Belfast area from 5\/1 to 5\/2 and that it is “one of the leading contenders for a Christmas Day dusting”.<\/p>\n READ MORE: Royal Mail delivery delays hit 9 postcodes in Belfast and NI ahead of Christmas – full list<\/a>READ MORE: 32,500 meals collected so far as communities across Northern Ireland rally behind Translink\u2019s Stuff a Bus<\/a><\/p>\n Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for Boyle Sports, said: \u201cWeather experts are divided, but punters are definitely dreaming of a White Christmas this year. The odds have been falling faster than the temperatures, and Belfast is a big mover, with Dublin not far behind.\u201d<\/p>\n Earlier this week its odds for a White Christmas were;<\/p>\n The Met Office<\/a> is currently predicting dry days on December 24 and 25 however with its forecast saying that it should be sunny throughout the day with temperatures ranging from two degrees to seven.<\/p>\n Prior to that on Monday, December 22, the Met Office has forecasted high temperatures of 10 degrees with spells of rain in the morning before a clearer evening.
