More than a dozen Greater Manchester walks have been \u2018relaunched\u2019 by ramblers who have given the routes their stamp of approval.<\/p>\n

The trails, covering every corner of Manchester, connect green spaces like parks, rivers, and canals in the concrete jungle of the city. Initially created in 2012, the trails have now been relaunched by Manchester and Salford<\/a> Ramblers as the \u2018Manchester Green Trail\u2019.<\/p>\n

Each of the 15 trails also connect up with one another, creating a continuous, 67.2 mile loop around town. Starting from Chapel Street park in Levenshulme<\/a>, the loop heads north up to Heaton Park<\/a>, then south via the city centre, all the way to Wythenshawe<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Ramblers, as Britain’s walking charity, is committed to extending the joys of walking – not just in the countryside but in our cities and urban areas too,\u201d said a spokesperson for the group which also helped create the GM Ringway trail across Greater Manchester.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can get out into nature in Manchester’s Parks and other green spaces, as well as alongside our canals and rivers. The Manchester Green Trail helps you discover the routes near where you live so you do not have to go far.\u201d<\/p>\n

Manchester council has also backed the plan, as bosses hope it gets more people and out-and-about to enjoy the health benefits.<\/p>\n

\u201c Whether it\u2019s a gentle stroll, a jog, or a family walk at the weekend, these routes open up new opportunities for everyone to connect with nature, explore their local area and boost their wellbeing,\u201d said John Hacking, executive councillor for leisure.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis project is a great example of how partnership working can help make being active part of everyday life in Manchester.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lee-Ann Igbon, executive councillor for vibrant neighbourhoods, added: \u201cIn a city as big as Manchester finding areas of green space can be incredibly important for our overall wellbeing.<\/p>\n

The relaunch of our rambling trails with new and improved maps and information will be very beneficial for people who want to get out and about, and perhaps discover some of Manchester\u2019s hidden gems.\u201d<\/p>\n
