There\u2019s no good time to lose a parent. It\u2019s devastating when you\u2019re a fully-grown adult, but when you\u2019re still young the grief can seem impossible to handle.<\/p>\n
So when her last remaining parent passed, the grieving young woman in this story<\/a> found herself in the care of her aunt, all because her sister\u2019s husband refused to allow her to live with them.<\/p>\n But she did her best, studying and stashing away her inheritance to help her toward her dreams of going to medical school.<\/p>\n Now her sister is pressuring her to use the money for something else.<\/p>\n Read on to find out what happened.<\/p>\n My sister (27, female) and I (18, female) lost our dad a year ago. He was my only parent, as our mom was never in mine or my sister\u2019s life.<\/p>\n Dad left money (inheritance) for me and sister, and she used her inheritance to buy new cars and renovate her house.<\/p>\n I live with my aunt right now cause my brother-in-law didn\u2019t let me stay with my sister.<\/p>\n I\u2019m planning on using my inheritance money to pay for college tuition (I\u2019ve always wanted to be doctor but haven\u2019t decided which branch yet).<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n But her sister has other ideas.<\/p>\n My sister and I haven\u2019t been close for a long time.<\/p>\n It started after she got married to her chronically ill husband, who was allowed to make backhanded comments about dad, mock his illness and make a scene at his funeral because he\u2019s ill and shouldn\u2019t be held accountable for his behavior.<\/p>\n I\u2019ve distanced myself, but my sister has been visiting a lot lately, venting about my brother-in-law\u2019s condition. He\u2019s been in and out of the hospital for heart problems, and is in need for a surgery.<\/p>\n He brought up my inheritance money several times, but I ended up cutting the conversation.<\/p>\n She then straight up asked if I could help to pay for her husband\u2019s surgery, and she\u2019d pay back in less than a year.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Yikes! Let\u2019s see how this teen felt about her sister\u2019s request.<\/p>\n I felt uneasy because if I give her money from my inheritance, which is a large amount, there\u2019s no guarantee she\u2019ll pay it back before it\u2019s time to apply for college.<\/p>\n I\u2019m taking a gap year, but I know my sister can\u2019t pay back that much and I felt like I was risking my future.<\/p>\n So I refused to help, and she had a meltdown at my aunt\u2019s house calling me heartless and cruel with no empathy.<\/p>\n She said that her husband\u2019s health should be a priority and I needed to help because education is nothing compared to someone\u2019s health. She asked if I\u2019d be happy to see her as a widow and my nephew with no father.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n And the guilt-tripping didn\u2019t end there.<\/p>\n My aunt suggested others pay, but the problem is that most people have cut my sister and her husband off.<\/p>\n I argued that her husband\u2019s poor health isn\u2019t my fault after she kept blaming and guilt-tripping me.<\/p>\n She kept crying and although my aunt decided to stay out of it. she said that I should be prepared for permanent damage in my relationship with my sister if I don\u2019t help her now.<\/p>\n She\u2019s been sending texts and pictures of her family, telling me this is what I was saying no to \u2013 a happy healthy family with a healthy husband and father.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Uh-oh.
