A woman was tragically found dead at a railway station in Wigan<\/a>. Officers and paramedics were called out to Bryn railway station, in Ashton-in-Makerfield<\/a>, at around 6pm on Friday evening (December 19).<\/p>\n

British Transport Police<\/a> says a woman in her 30s was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. “The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner,” a force spokesperson added.<\/p>\n

Councillor Danny Fletcher, who represents Ashton-in-Makerfield on Wigan council, posted about the incident on Facebook on Friday night. He wrote: “British Transport Police are working on the case, whilst liaising with GMP. The station will reopen as soon as possible. The council will support in anyway it can.<\/p>\n

“Sending all my love to the person involved, and their family and friends. Give your families an extra tight hug tonight.”<\/p>\n

Railway lines were closed between Wigan North Western and Liverpool Lime Street while emergency services worked at the scene. Services resumed by 9.15pm.<\/p>\n
