{"id":648570,"date":"2025-12-22T16:06:25","date_gmt":"2025-12-22T16:06:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/648570\/"},"modified":"2025-12-22T16:06:25","modified_gmt":"2025-12-22T16:06:25","slug":"leeds-united-prepare-16-7m-bid-to-beat-tottenham-and-aston-villa-to-la-liga-winger","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/648570\/","title":{"rendered":"Leeds United prepare \u00a316.7m bid to beat Tottenham and Aston Villa to La Liga winger"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Tottenham Hotspur have dropped down the pecking order in the race for a La Liga wide forward, with another Premier League rival emerging as frontrunners for the Sevilla star.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.spurs-web.com\/spurs-news\/tottenham-hotspur-shortlist-six-ambitious-statement-signings-to-target-in-2026\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tottenham Hotspur are keen on strengthening their forward line in the winter window<\/a>, and there is a particular focus on the wide areas as the club looks to provide further depth.<\/p>\n<p>Several names have appeared on the Lilywhites\u2019 radar, including Antoine Semenyo and Iliman Ndiaye, who are both players that Spurs fans rate highly.<\/p>\n<p>However, Sevilla forward <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spurs-web.com\/spurs-news\/tottenham-hold-advantage-over-aston-villa-in-race-for-la-liga-star-with-three-assists-this-season\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ruben Vargas has also emerged as a viable option for Tottenham<\/a>, with interest stretching back to September, shortly after the summer window slammed shut.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/GettyImages-2246873781-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Tottenham target Ruben Vargas\" class=\"wp-image-373258\" \/>Photo by Mattia Ozbot\/Getty ImagesLeeds United move ahead of Tottenham for Ruben Vargas<\/p>\n<p>The Sevilla man has managed three goals and four assists in 12 La Liga outings this season, and his form has caught the attention of a couple of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spurs-web.com\/tag\/premier-league\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Premier League<\/a> sides, including Spurs.<\/p>\n<p>A report from <a href=\"https:\/\/orgullobiri.com\/tres-equipos-ingleses-siguen-a-ruben-vargas-del-sevilla-fc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Orgullo Biri<\/a> now claims that Leeds United are in pole position to land Ruben Vargas ahead of both Aston Villa and Tottenham.<\/p>\n<p>The newly promoted side is said to be working on a proposal worth \u00a316.7m (\u20ac20m) for the Swiss international, and this move places them ahead of both <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spurs-web.com\/tag\/tottenham\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Spurs<\/a> and Aston Villa, who are currently only closely monitoring the situation.<\/p>\n<p>Why Spurs can still hijack Leeds United move for Ruben Vargas<\/p>\n<p>Ruben Vargas is a wide forward with good dribbling skills, and those attributes appear to be what have caught the attention of the interested Premier League sides.<\/p>\n<p>However, while Leeds United have put together a proposal, it is also explained that they have not submitted any formal offers to the Spanish club as yet.<\/p>\n<p>This leaves the door open for Tottenham to still sweep in for the winger, who is said to be valued at \u00a310m (\u20ac12m) by Sevilla, as it is claimed a sale will provide a much-needed financial boost for the La Liga outfit to strengthen their squad.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>       Have something to tell us about this article?
