TRNSMT could change its stage times at next year’s festival so people can watch Scotland at the World Cup<\/a>. The country’s most popular music festival opens on June 19 – the same day Scotland play at the huge competition in North America.<\/p>\n

The Verve’s Richard Ashcroft is set to headline the first day of the weekend music extravaganza. However, the Scotland national team<\/a> play Morocco in their second match of the much-anticipated tournament at 11pm that night, UK time.<\/p>\n

That time is TRNSMT’s normal curfew, with the headliner typically taking to the stage from around 9.30pm-11pm. DF Concerts boss Geoff Ellis <\/a>has now said all options are being considered to give fans time to watch the match.<\/p>\n

The tournament is the first time Scotland have played at the World Cup in 28 years. Mr Ellis, the festival director, told the BBC<\/a>: “Obviously it’s very early days as the World Cup and TRNSMT are still over six months away.<\/p>\n

“As you would expect there is flexibility in timings and we will be ensuring that music fans can enjoy the TRNSMT line up as well as watching Scotland’s <\/a>second game on the road to bringing the World Cup home to the birthplace of football.”<\/p>\n

It is believed festival promoters are exploring the possibility of showing the game at Glasgow Green<\/a> once the music has finished for the day, with a source close to TRNSMT saying organisers were thinking hard about the prospect.<\/p>\n

TRNSMT is taking place earlier than usual next year, having been brought forward by a few weeks from its normal mid-July slot. Other acts playing on the Friday include Wolf Alice, Nile Rodgers and the Beta Band.<\/p>\n

Scotland scored two dramatic stoppage-time goals to beat 10-man Denmark 4-2 at Hampden Park in November to reach the World Cup for the first time since 1998. They were drawn against Brazil, Morocco and Haiti.<\/p>\n

They will kick off their tournament against Haiti on June 14 before playing Morocco five days later. The final group game for manager Steve Clarke <\/a>and his team will be against Brazil on June 24.<\/p>\n
